Not great
Revisado: 04-16-24
The speaker is too slow, the script seems like it’s just generic and written by combining a bunch of other people who do it better. The speaking meditation because it is not hypnosis last about five minutes before it’s nothing but ocean waves. To help me sleep I’ve listened to a lot of the style tapes, and this one is the worst. It just tries to hard and ends up being trite, unskilled, unskilled , not relaxing. If I could, I would return it and give it zero stars.

Robot voice is unbelievably bad
Revisado: 08-18-22
The book starts by the author bragging about the millions of dollars spent on research and the thousands of sales people they observed. After all the time, effort, energy, and money they spent on the research, why not spend $500 on a real reader?
They used an ai type robot voice to record this book. How can they spend $$$ on research and nothing on recording.?
Literally a robot AI voice computer read this or they auto tuned to the point that it sounds like a robot read it.
The message might be great but the delivery is the worst I have ever heard. You spent millions on research but couldn’t afford someone on fiverr to read it half way decently?
Go back and research your readers. They don’t want to listen to a speed reading robot.
This is the worst quality reading I have ever heard in audible. I guess I will checkout the book from the public library because this is unlistenable.

Historia
Reading the full text of A Fragile Stone, Michael Card fascinates, inspires and challenges us to enter into the emotions of the Apostle Peter. Was the "Rock" really strong of heart? What did Jesus mean to him? What did he hope to gain by following Jesus? How did an impetuous fisherman become an iconic leader of the early church? Michael Card says, "The ultimate reason for getting to know Peter is so together we might better know Jesus. For the story of Peter is the story of Jesus.

So simplistic that you should just read the Bible instead
Revisado: 07-11-22
I had high hopes of learning background information on what life was like or more about Peter. Instead this is a recount of the Bible passages about Peter.
The book starts with a long segment on the conflict between the Catholic and Protestant Church regarding Peter. I suppose because this is an old book the conflict about Peter being the first Pope may have been current or relevant at the time of publication; In today’s modern era Pope or not Pope Peter is not exactly a hot topic.
Some of the book is organized in a way that is confusing. An example is the chapter on Peter’s family, which can be summed up as, he was married, possibly had a child, and had a mother-in-law, ends with Peter‘s wife’s martyrs death. So it’s confusing when the next chapter starts up near the beginning of the relationship between Peter and Jesus relationship.
The format of this book is Bible passage, mini sermon. Another Bible passage about Peter, mini sermon.
I guess what I wanted was more info about Peter, what life was like for fishermen, background or some fullness.
This book is great if you are a new Christian, haven’t read very much of the Bible, or are a teenager/college student. If feels like it is two one hour sermons on the life of Peter.
I’m not trying to disparage the book in as much as I am trying to give a more balanced review than the ones I read when I selected this book.
This is not a bad book. But it’s not great either:/ It’s too slow and basic to the point of you may not learn anything if you have more than a basic understanding of the New Testament. I do understand that this was not meant to be a heavy duty commentary. It just isn’t enough either. You would learn more about Peter watching the chosen.
The authors voice is pleasant (it is Michael Card after all) the quality is good.
There is a weird break in the 10th chapter where the publisher cuts in and reminds you of the title of the book and who the author/narrator is. 10 chapters in, I think we know that information;)

Awesome Characters, Great Book!
Revisado: 08-18-18
This was a fantastic book! The characters were well thought out, interesting and relatable, like the main character Wiley who has a lot of depth as soon as you are introduced to him in the first chapter. The dynamic of mixing mythology and technology is an interesting blend that makes the world feel full, yet limit less! Overall, I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it!

It was a fantastic book with unexpected twistes and turns. It teaches how to be humble and still stand up to "people speakers".
