What’s in a name? A lot. The name Tinaca, for example, has been passed down in the Jones family for generations of women. In fact, the Joneses name a Tinaca every other generation, to let the name breathe a little. To let each Tinaca shine. And shine is exactly what Tinaca Jones intends to do.

Historia
Percival Everett's The Trees is a must-listen that opens with a series of brutal murders in the rural town of Money, Mississippi. When a pair of detectives from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation arrive, they meet expected resistance from the local sheriff, his deputy, the coroner, and a string of racist White townsfolk. The murders present a puzzle, for at each crime scene there is a second dead body: that of a man who resembles Emmett Till.

The most serious yet comical satire…
Revisado: 05-07-25
This, this, this…I’m at a lost for words! This was based on a very serious historical moment in time yet the way this was written will have you chuckling continuously. I absolutely loved the satire and the comical moments in this.
Everett created something that could make you feel as though you’re there wondering wth is happening, why are all these white men dying by a black man that’s already dead. I’m very pleased with the story and the narrator, I love me a good whodunnit and this right here was great from beginning to end.

Soledad Barnes has her life all planned out. Because, of course, she does. She plans everything. She designs everything. She fixes everything. She’s a domestic goddess who's never met a party she couldn't host or a charge she couldn't lead. The one with all the answers and the perfect vinaigrette for that summer salad. But none of her varied talents can save her when catastrophe strikes, and the life she built with the man who was supposed to be her forever, goes poof in a cloud of betrayal and disillusion.

Outstanding…
Revisado: 05-02-25
This was an amazing story of pain and self discovery. Even for non romance readers such as myself, this will draw you in like no other. The narration was good, just wished a different male voice actor was used since he’s the same one that voices Josiah in Before I Let Go. 4.5 stars!

Short & Cute!!!
Revisado: 04-25-25
I don’t read/listen to much romance but this short romance novella was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed how cute this was and me being a dog lover, it hit the spot for me. Loved both the FMC & MMC and the fact they weren’t written as 2 dysfunctional characters. Instead they both are written in as bright and successful which is refreshing. The comical and flirty banter between them both is quite enjoyable as well. I give this a 4.2

Historia
Motherhood isn’t easy, especially when you’re a mother of a Black son. Ten years ago, Cheryl jumped at the chance to send her son, Javonte, to an exclusive boarding school in New England - far away from Atlanta and the violence of the city streets. It was the American dream, or was it? Now settled in Vermont, Javonte is married and well-employed, but Cheryl hardly ever sees him, and when she does, her own son seems like someone she only used to know.

Good but not great…
Revisado: 04-21-25
Loved the voice acting by Gabrielle Union but unfortunately the story was a little lackluster. I know this was a short but I was hoping for a little more punch, a little more of an emotional story. I’m from Atlanta and the research was done great for those areas mentioned. This read more like an excerpt than a short and unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. Overall I give this 3 stars for the short, 5 stars for the narration.

A Fantastic Fantasy Story…
Revisado: 04-01-25
Wow! First I must give the narrator a high five for this narrative perfection! His ability to transition between several characters is truly remarkable. Jim has such a unique dynamic in this story along with each and every character within this. Make sure you follow this carefully as there are several different major and minor characters that all contribute to Jim’s story. Golgotha is one magical town with a country mid western atmosphere which will keep you intrigued from beginning to end. The author using the major arcana from the tarot deck as chapters is really awesome as well. The only thing I didn’t care for was the constant back and forth between the present and past. It got confusing because you don’t realize that Jim is reminiscing instead of it being present day. This book is Full of mystery, thrill, magic and secrets! 4.5 stars

This book is very interesting. It takes mythology from various cultures and rolls it into one. This could’ve been a 5 star read but unfortunately it just left me wanting more and left me with more questions than answers. Love the plot and characters and I definitely enjoyed the narrator.

This is a great story and it definitely wasn’t what I expected! Callie really was talking to Tex as if he truly was a real person lol. The narrator did such a wonderful job with this. This book had me cracking up every chance it could. Love this!

Short & Sweet with a little bit of Who Done it?
Revisado: 03-03-25
This was a good in between novel read! Definitely loved the way it started off though I feel as if the last few chapters could’ve been better, just don’t could give a better story climax. Love that Torr isn’t just some deadbeat with mommy/daddy issues (which black men are usually portrayed), this really put him in a great light. The same with Jasmine. Great cozy mystery in my eyes.
