Historia
Pushed to the breaking point, Cara Burrows flees her home and family and escapes to a five-star spa resort she can't afford. Late at night, exhausted and desperate, she lets herself into her hotel room and is shocked to find it already occupied - by a man and a teenage girl. A simple mistake at the front desk, but soon Cara realizes that the girl she saw alive and well in the hotel room is someone she can't possibly have seen: the most famous murder victim in the country, Melody Chapa, whose parents are serving natural life sentences for her murder.

No mystery. No suspense. No point.

No recommendation for this book at all. It had a few interesting characters and one really annoying one. Not worth the time.

If you enjoy the mundane this book is for you
Revisado: 07-11-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I think the description was misleading. The book's premise held interest. The characters are well-written but nothing interesting happens with them. It seemed like a book that would have some intrigue but this was just a romance novel.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something more thrilling and fast-paced with a story that carries me away.
What didn’t you like about January LaVoy’s performance?
The accents and the baby voice for the young child in the story.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Not the worst book ever. Some strong female characters. The writing, itself, is well done.
Any additional comments?
This is a romance novel. It is one of those books where several times you think this is it, this is where something exciting is going to happen. It never does. Before you know it you have gone through many hours of a story that is literally just a description of mundane day-to-day activities and interactions in a small town.

Another disappointed Koontz fan
Revisado: 03-03-11
Awful. Definitely the worst book he's ever written. I love the good vs evil theme that is prevalent in all his books. I like that family and love are always such positive themes in all his stories. This book fails on so many levels. I buy all his books without reading any reviews or story synopses because I am a big fan. Usually, it's a good ride from page one. This book is actually boring, as well as, awful. Your money is wasted on this one.

One of the most insipid, cliched books ever
Revisado: 01-27-11
I loved the time period for this book. The main characters grew up in the same decades that I did and the references to it are what I appreciate about the story and why I give the one star. That being said, it was downhill from there. Nothing happens in this book. At the writing of this I am halfway through the second part. It's killing me to get to the end but I have a thing about seeing something through. I wanted to write this now to save anyone else from wasting a credit. This book should be used in writing classes to exemplify what not to do. Awful!

I enjoyed this audiobook. What I like is a story that starts off interesting and then maintains it. This book did that for me. Good main characters. Maybe a bit predictable but still a good listen.

In the long title story, we accompany Sophia Kovalevsky - a late-19th-century Russian émigré and mathematician - on a winter journey that takes her from the Riviera, where she visits her lover, to Paris, Germany, and Denmark, where she has a fateful meeting with a local doctor, and finally to Sweden, where she teaches at the only university in Europe willing to employ a female mathematician.

Starts well then disappoints
Revisado: 02-07-10
Alice Munro is a wonderful writer. Even though this is a collection of short stories the character development in each one is thorough. I read the first four of these stories. Each one was interesting to listen to - until the end. Each ending was such a disappointment (they just stop with no satisfying conclusion!) that I cannot bring myself to read the rest.

Kind of disappointing
Revisado: 12-18-08
First let me say that Dean Koontz is at the top of my list of favorite authors. That being said this is not his best book. I was really disappointed in this one in many aspects. I don't want to go into detail and ruin it for anyone but the book didn't really go anywhere for a lot of the book and then when it did it was disappointing where it went to.

Historia
Lisey lost her husband, Scott, two years ago, after a 25-year marriage of profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, best-selling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went - a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon.

Excruciatingly painful
Revisado: 11-12-06
If you like horror then listen to this book because it is horrible. This is my first review and I felt compelled to write this since there were only positive reviews to date. This book was in 3 parts, it was long and that wouldn't have been a problem had it been good. It wasn't. It was long and sad. The silly made up language that exists in the book (because it existed in the book between husband and wife gets real old real quick but if you think you would enjoy the word "smucking" and other such nonsense through this long novel this could be for you. I had heard it was a slow start and I patiently endured this thinking it was bound to get good soon. For me that never happened. If you want an excellent Stephen King book read "The Stand".
