Perfect Except for the Performance
Revisado: 12-13-20
I have experienced narrators that are actually unbearable to listen to. I've stopped listening to a book before because of such. While I have a few complaints about this particular one, they're tolerable.
I just wonder how the producer could let these performances differ from one book to another? Is it that difficult? I'd prefer some consistency. Inconsistency makes it seem as if the producer didn't care enough to keep everything together. I don't blame the narrator although he could have kept it consistent of his own volition. It all does no justice to this great story.
Some examples: Within any one book we have "Gendry" and "Gentry". "Winterfell" and "Winterfall". Between books we have "Cat-lyn" and "Cait-lyn". "Lease" and "Lie-ss". You'd think maybe some consultation with the author would have cleared up any confusion...I'd expect those used in the show are accurate?
Additionally in the first few books Dullerous Ed was voiced so uniquely and comically. In this one he's horrible. Arya suddenly has a weird accent too. These changes are jarring and take you out of the story.
It's such a shame. Luckily the story makes up for it and when considered alone, the performance is still good.
On to the next one! Wonder what everyone will be called and what they'll sound like now!

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

A Different Kind of Re-read
Revisado: 03-10-20
I've read all the books and love this series more than any other I've ever experienced. All the flaws others may sew (too innocent, too focused on the male/female dichotomy, etc) are what make it incredible to me. I'm loving going through the audiobooks. It's a different way to enjoy a story I adore. I'm so grateful to have had 5 books with the same narrators performing it. Other series have chopped and changed and it's horrible, so the best audiobooks are exactly the same as the best books I've ever read ^.^

Best Narrator I've Heard
Revisado: 04-02-19
Absolutely loved this narrator. His performance was incredible. I don't know if he does the third book as well, but I certainly hope so!

Switching to Kindle - Narrator Ruined It
Revisado: 01-11-19
I fell in love with the series in the first book so it was a no brainer to download the second one. I'm not yet done with this one and I've been trying to get through, but after the brilliant performance of Sam Tsoutsouvas (or something) in the first book, I can't deal with the narrator of this book. He can do about 2 voices and he has a range of maybe 2 intonations. It's really distracting and makes me cringe. I can't take it anymore
Haven't checked yet but I hope the next book isn't narrated by this guy because it's a deal breaker. It's a pity I won't be able to continue with the story as I drive around and go to gym, but I just don't like this narrator. The different pronunciations used are also a bit of a bummer (Sideen vs Sidin). So far I can't find another version on Audible. Either way this book has taught me to download a sample first. Then again, a sample wouldn't fully portray how annoying this narrator becomes after a few chapters.

Could not "put it down".
Revisado: 01-09-19
Years ago this series was recommended to me because I enjoyed Robert Jordan's work and world. I thought it would be a good choice as the first fantasy audiobook I've ever listened to.
The story and the world Goodkind creates is easy to get lost in, as all fantasy work should be. I will definitely be continuing with this series. Goodkind is an edgier author than Jordan but his more intense scenes are still done with elegance.
The audiobook exceeded my expectations. I was as absorbed in it as I usually get when reading. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance - voice acting of different characters made it more vivid than other books I've listened to.
