U.S. History is designed to meet the scope and sequence requirements of most introductory courses. The text provides a balanced approach to U.S. history, considering the people, events, and ideas that have shaped the United States from both the top down (politics, economics, diplomacy) and bottom up (eyewitness accounts, lived experience).

Loved the audio book. I had to write down new terms I hand to look up later. Provocative and easy to understand.

Historia
In 1999 in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, orthopedic surgeon, devoted wife, and loving mother Dr. Mary Neal drowned in a kayak accident. While cascading down a waterfall, her kayak became pinned at the bottom and she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater for too long, and as a result, died. To Heaven and Back is Mary’s remarkable story of her life’s spiritual journey and what happened as she moved from life to death to eternal life, and back again.

Great story, but just be careful of her theology
Revisado: 01-21-21
I read “Imagine Heaven” twice and Mary’s story was shared briefly inside it. So I bought Mary’s book to dig deeper. I find that it compelling and consistent with other stories, but her interpretation of events I’ll take with a grain of salt. She believes in a Mormon theology that kids are eternal before they are born on earth, but that wasn’t in her experience in Heaven, just her own belief. She also mentioned Mormons in the book who had a knowledge of her accident and the man who passed had helped her in the past before he died, which could possibly be true with time or lack thereof in Heaven. It’s possible that demons or bad spirits have knowledge of our past, so I take that story with a grain of salt.
Lastly, she never says quite clearly if an angel had told her that her son would die young or if her son just said “you know the plan..., etc.” that wasn’t made clear in the book. So I wonder if she’s just taking the words of her son as truth rather than an angel or Jesus telling her. Her experience wasn’t clear on what was said.
Again, I’m sure she’s a Christian, but her strong but appearing to be gentle interpretation of events lowers the believability of her story. She should just leave out the unnecessary theology of her personal opinion and just leave in the facts.
Overall, good book, but could be edited to filter out personal theology not connected to the event.
Also, the voice on the recording sounds too much like Siri on the iPhone. My kids were listening and they said, how can you listen to this for long?
