Historia
Nils Shapiro accepts what appears to be an easy, lucrative job: find out if Beverly Mayer’s grandson is foolishly throwing away his trust fund in Hollywood, especially now, in the wake of his fiancée’s tragic death. However, that easy job becomes much more complicated once Nils arrives in Los Angeles, a disorienting place where the sunshine hides dark secrets. Nils quickly suspects that Ebben Mayer’s fiancée was murdered and that Ebben himself may have been the target.

What happened to this series?
Revisado: 02-14-23
Repeating what many have already said. Seems like a different author wrote this. Weak story and horrible narration. Poor distinction of men vs women, but more so terrible lack of inflection in voices and or badly portrayed characters! Use of vulgar language seemed forced! Just overall badly done!

Historia
Viktor Orlov had a longstanding appointment with death. Once Russia’s richest man, he now resides in splendid exile in London, where he has waged a tireless crusade against the authoritarian kleptocrats who have seized control of the Kremlin. His mansion in Chelsea’s exclusive Cheyne Walk is one of the most heavily protected private dwellings in London. Yet somehow, on a rainy summer evening, in the midst of a global pandemic, Russia’s vengeful president finally manages to cross Orlov’s name off his kill list.

Time to retire Gabriel!
Revisado: 08-04-21
So far fetched and sad to leverage what is going on in our political landscape when a book should help us escape the craziness. Disappointed in Silva for dragging us back through what was happening in the US during the last 12-18 months and not in a constructive way. What was the authors agenda in doing this? As for the story line, it was basically recycled from all the last books and the ending was so bland! It really is time for Gabriel to retire. If there are more books in the future, I am done unless I can find that the story and characters are totally refreshed!

Taryn Moore is young, beautiful, and brilliant…so why would she kill herself? When Detective Frankie Loomis arrives on the scene to investigate the girl’s fatal plunge from her apartment balcony, she knows in her gut there’s more to the story. Her instincts are confirmed when surprise information is revealed that could have been reason enough for Taryn’s suicide - or a motive for her murder.

Disappointment and not up to Gerritsen standards!
Revisado: 08-04-21
Seemed like this was written in a rush, especially the ending, and clearly not up to Tess Gerritsen standards! I find it interesting when an author, co-authors with someone else, how it changes the whole flow of the book. Although a well worn story line, it seemed like the first half might have been written by Gerritsen, with the usual twists and turns and interesting characters, but the second half got so predictable and seemed very rushed. And as someone else said, the fowl language wasn't in character for Gerritsen and didn't seem necessary in the story telling! Disappointment!

Historia
He is our best hope. He is our last hope. He is our only hope. On a lonely moor in northern England, the body of a young woman is discovered. In the south, a girl lies buried beneath a Saxon mound. To the southeast, the ruins of a priory hide a human skull. Each is a sacrifice, a summons. And something in the darkness has heard the call. Charlie Parker has also heard it, and from the forests of Maine to the deserts of the Mexican border, from the canals of Amsterdam to the streets of London, he will track those who would cast the world into darkness.

Worst yet!
Revisado: 11-03-19
22 hours of a meandering story where I easily lost interest with side vignettes that really didn’t add to the story. Parker books have lost their way! The narration continues to be horrible. Local dialects are terrible and I have commented before about the poor portrayal of women’s voices. No woman would ever sound this way and they all sound the same! I would be challenged to read another Parker book and being from Maine, had really enjoyed the first few!

Historia
The community of Prosperous, Maine has always thrived when others have suffered. Its inhabitants are wealthy, its children’s future secure. It shuns outsiders. It guards its own. And at the heart of Prosperous lie the ruins of an ancient church, transported stone by stone from England centuries earlier by the founders of the town. But the death of a homeless man and the disappearance of his daughter draw the haunted, lethal private investigator Charlie Parker to Prosperous.

Narration is terrible, story overall good.
Revisado: 11-07-18
As a native of Maine, I am insulted how we are portrayed. All the women sound the same, sound foolish and a terrible attempt at a “Downeast” accent! The men aren’t much better. The Charlie Parker series has had multiple narrators, none of which have really found a consistent”voice” for Parker or the other characters. I continue to finish the books, but see that Harding continues to be the reader and am bracing myself. If the characters are cold hearted killers, don’t make them sound so foolish!

Very Disappointing
Revisado: 03-11-18
Loved first book, liked second, not so much third. Story line builds slowly, is disjointed with side storylines thrown in with no context. Killing and sex contrived with a forced, quick and abrupt ending that leaves you shaking your head. Seems like author committed to a trilogy and ran out of steam by the third book!
Poorly executed! However, narration was superb....helped me keep listening!

Historia
Renée Ballard works the night shift in Hollywood, beginning many investigations but finishing none, as each morning she turns her cases over to day shift detectives. A once up-and-coming detective, she's been given this beat as punishment after filing a sexual harassment complaint against a supervisor. But one night she catches two cases she doesn't want to part with: the brutal beating of a prostitute left for dead in a parking lot and the killing of a young woman in a nightclub shooting. Ballard is determined not to give up at dawn.

Female version of Harry Bosch
Revisado: 07-27-17
Enjoyed the book for what it is, however, didn't feel it was much different than a Harry Bosch story line, his character traits, or stereotyping of overused police politics. Was hoping for a new creative character and storyline, but didn't rise to that level.

Historia
Buddhist monk Wayan Bagus lost his island of solitude and wants to get it back. The island was about 200 miles northeast of Samoa. It had a mountain, beaches, a rainforest, and a volcano. And now it's gone. Poof! Vanished without a trace. Brilliant and boyishly charming Emerson Knight likes nothing better than solving an unsolvable, improbable mystery. And finding a missing island is better than Christmas morning in the Knight household.

Clone of Stephanie Plum series, same characters including narrators voice, just different names! Terrible lack of creativity!
Revisado: 07-19-17
This series is nothing more than Stephanie Plum with some subtle changes. Using the same narrator as with the Plum series, who is excellent, is a mistake as she duplicated the character voices. Not worth reading unless you just feel you are okay reading a Plum book but with different names!

Terrible
Revisado: 02-08-17
This book didn't even seem like James Patterson had written 1 word of it. Felt like a rambling story and the highs and lows of the main character's life felt very contrived and hard to believe! If they were trying to write a suspenseful novel as write-up teases, big failure! If they were trying to expose a cause in the Catholic Church, big failure! Poorly written, bad narration and characters never really developed. A wasted credit!

Historia
Dr. Kay Scarpetta is working a suspicious death scene when an emergency alert sounds on her phone. A video link lands in her text messages and seems to be from her computer-genius niece, Lucy. But how can it be? It's clearly a surveillance film of Lucy taken almost 20 years ago. As Scarpetta watches she begins to learn frightening secrets about her niece. That film clip and others sent soon after raise dangerous legal implications that increasingly isolate Scarpetta and leave her confused, worried, and not knowing where to turn.

Disappointing and boring
Revisado: 11-09-15
Having read all the Scarpetta novels, I have grown increasingly frustrated with the direction, tone, and lack of substance to the last few books. Early on Scarpetta was a strong woman solving interesting crimes, now she is demeaned to being paranoid, angry and yelling most of the time. None of the characters have been developed any further, stuck in time, and Merino is nothing but a fool who is mostly yelling profanities. Very disappointing from an author I used to admire....
