Historia
First published in 1890, this book established psychology as a science and served as the quintessential work in the field for decades. James' intricate studies and paradigm-shifting ideas transformed the way we look at human thought and action. The text covers the core concepts of what it means to be human - brain function, consciousness, discrimination, memory, sensation, imagination, reasoning, and instinct. The book is published in two volumes, the first containing Chapters I through XVI and the second continuing from XVII to XXVIII.

interesting content but difficult readi on Audible
Revisado: 08-11-23
This book gives a fascinating insight in the genesis of psychology and the deep insights developed with the limited technical possibiities of the time it was written. Even today we stille struggle wit concepts like consciousness and memory.
This is not an eay book to read and Audible makes it nit easier. First of all there is no pdf available with the figures used to explain numerous experiments. This makes the text almost incomprhensable at certain points.
Furthemore Audible cuts the book in chapters which have no relation with the table of content of the original volume. A table of content with the original titles an dheadings would be very usefull to keep track of the books structure.

"Pour la philosophie existentialiste, l'existence précède l'essence, c'est à dire que l'homme naît seul, libre et responsable. Il n'est lui-même qu'être et néant, mais il donne, par ses choix et les engagements de son existence, un sens à sa vie. Tout le théâtre de Sartre est empreint de cette pensée. Avec Le Diable et le Bon Dieu, Sartre réalise enfin en Goetz l'unité du personnage et donne une véritable expression dramatique au problème de la liberté."

I supose this is the registration of a teatre performance? French is my second language and this recording is very difficult to follow e ause of the e ho or holloa sound and the rapid speech. A pity because it seems an interesti g pece which illustrates the existentialist thinking.

Historia
For all of neuroscience's advances, we've made little progress on its biggest question: How do simple cells in the brain create intelligence? Jeff Hawkins and his team discovered that the brain uses map-like structures to build a model of the world - not just one model, but hundreds of thousands of models of everything we know. This discovery allows Hawkins to answer important questions about how we perceive the world, why we have a sense of self, and the origin of high-level thought.

essence of intelligence
Revisado: 06-15-21
Jeff Hawkins is equally well versed in neuroscience and machine intelligence which in my opinion creates extremely interesting insights both in the essence of human intelligence and the future of machine intelligence. The Thousand brain theory is one of these fundamental books one only discovers a few times every year; I prefer the first 2 parts which concentrates on his very convincing brain model and machine intelligence. The last part is more speculative. My advice :read it!

Historia
Burning the Days captures a singular life, beginning with a Manhattan boyhood and then, satisfying his father's wishes, graduation from West Point, followed by service in the Air Force as a pilot. In some of the most evocative pages ever written about flying, Salter describes the exhilaration and terror of combat as a fighter pilot in the Korean War, scenes that are balanced by haunting pages of love and a young man's passion for women.

For insiders
Revisado: 04-12-21
These recollections contain some interesting chapters like the picturing of the West Point Academy. Most of the book is in my opinion only interesting for insiders of the air force and The American litterary world. It is an endless series of names and encounters, hard to keep resding. A more focused description could give a feeling of the the period and social life, the view on women which ls both superficial and full of sexidm, the endless drinking..
