Historia
In The Elements We Live By, physicist and award-winning author Anja Røyne takes us on an astonishing journey through chemistry and physics, introducing the building blocks from which we humans - and the world - are made. Not only does Røyne explain why our bodies need iron, phosphorus, silicon, potassium, and many more elements in just the right amounts in order to function, she also leads us around the world to where these precious elements are found (some of them in ever-shrinking quantities).

I love the work the author did on representing huge timelapses equivalent to the hours of a normal day, and the way how the elements spawned, how they interact and the finite resources in earth. 10/10

Historia
Testosterone propels our drive for exploration and risk, for competition and creation, and even our survival. The effects of testosterone permeate the traditions, philosophy, and literature of every known culture - without it, the world would be a drastically different place. It also has a role in humanity's darker side, contributing to violence, hubris, poverty, crime, and selfishness. Recent revelations of the science of testosterone show that high levels will deplete compassion and generosity, and even reduce the affection we show our children.

Historia
From leading geopolitical expert and technology futurist Jamie Metzl comes a groundbreaking exploration of the many ways genetic engineering is shaking the core foundations of our lives-sex, war, love, and death. At the dawn of the genetics revolution, our DNA is becoming as readable, writable, and hackable as our information technology. But as humanity starts retooling our own genetic code, the choices we make today will be the difference between realizing breathtaking advances in human well-being and descending into a dangerous and potentially deadly genetic arms race.

Historia
Army combat veteran and registered nurse Erin Olszewski's most deeply held values were put to the test when she arrived as a travel nurse at Elmhurst Hospital in the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. After serving in Iraq, she was back on the front lines - and this time, she found, the situation was even worse. Rooms were filthy, nurses were lax with sanitation measures, and hospital-acquired cases of COVID-19 were spreading like wildfire.

How much courage is needed to expose something like this? Admirable.
During the pandemic, my father was killed presumably how is described in this book, after being intubated in Mexico. So this book really hit me. Now I study medicine and I’m good at it. I’ll never avenge him, but at least I’ll fight versus the status quo like you.

Historia
The search to find medicines is as old as disease, which is to say as old as the human race. Through serendipity - by chewing, brewing, and snorting - some Neolithic souls discovered opium, alcohol, snakeroot, juniper, frankincense, and other helpful substances. Ötzi the Iceman, the 5,000-year-old hunter frozen in the Italian Alps, was found to have whipworms in his intestines and Bronze Age medicine, a worm-killing birch fungus, knotted to his leggings.

Historia
Dish up the red meat, eggs, and whole milk! In this well-researched and captivating narrative, veteran food writer Nina Teicholz proves how everything we've been told about fat is wrong. For decades, Americans have cut back on red meat and dairy products full of "bad" saturated fats. We obediently complied with nutritional guidelines to eat "heart healthy" fats found in olive oil, fish, and nuts, and followed a Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits, vegetables, and grains. Yet the nation's health has declined. What is going on?

Too gentle to say the least.
Revisado: 02-12-24
Here you’ll find the story of how dietary guidelines have affected in the worst way the western population (mainly). Full of corruption, high egos and the neglecting of true science by the heads of “nutrition” organizations. The author is really gentle while describing everything, while we’re obviously being told a tragic story of bioterrorism. The information contained in this book should be part of history class in every country.

In depth information about what’s wrong with typical “healthy” foods
Revisado: 02-09-24
I really liked how detailed Paul was in talking about the antinutrients in the different categories of plant foods, even mentioning a few potentially problematic foods from the fungi kingdom, but acknowledging that if one doesn’t have autoimmune issues, some mushrooms and plant foods can be well included in a carnivore-ish diet. He also mentions some of the corporations behind the plant-based agenda that will favor the pharmaceutical and grain food industries as time passes. Overall a really well crafted book. Congratulations.

Historia
A healthy life starts with the food on your plate – make it the only medicine you ever take to live a disease-free life. In today’s day and age, eating has been completely replaced with indulgence – one that is geared more towards popular, tastebud-tingling, and mouth-watering options that are consumed widely across the world. And while food is supposed to be fulfilling and nutritious, the consumption of such ultra-processed delicacies brings with it a myriad of health-related issues. According to National Public Radio, a typical U.S. diet is deadly, shortening the lives of many ...

Partially outdated info
Revisado: 02-06-24
The author deems healthier to eat oats, quinoa and rice than any type of red meat (lamb, venison, beef, etc…) neglecting the difference between grain fed and grass fed animals, and indoctrinates the importance of eating small meals without mentioning the individual aspects of metabolism nuances, such as people that need more food to be full, and don’t like to eat little protein. He mentions that the way to go is eating only 25% protein, 25 starchy carbs and 50% leafy greens. This is absolutely a no go for someone like me. So he lacks an acknowledgement of different approaches to healthy diet. Finally, he kept mentioning tea as a superfood. Tea is not a food since it doesn’t contribute macronutrients, and a superfood is a food that can keep you thriving even if you’re just eating that single food, such as eggs and beef. I find his info useful only for beginners that have really been practicing horrible habits. If you’re starting your health journey, take the ideas of this book with a grain of salt and use your common sense. Our species and ancestors have been eating ruminants for millennia, even before starting to eat fish.
