As always, these folks do a fantastic production. They captured the essence of the characters while reading the text as-is.

Dune in itself is a hard book to read. It can get dry at times, but it is a CLASSIC MUST READ.

Jim remains one of the greats

Jim Camp is phenomenal, and his negotiation rules, practices, and techniques are second to none. I read his book five or more years ago and was thrilled to see that they finally recorded it. Robert Jordan, as one of Jim’s long time confidants, serves as the perfect narrator.

Narrator not great, story excellent

Many other reviewers have written about the horrible narrator. I concur. Hint to make it better: listen at 1.1x. It cuts down on the droning monotony of his voice.

That being said, the book itself is fantastic. As usual, Clancy writes a thrilling, plausible technical fiction story based on the ally-turned-enemy model with plenty of historical plausibility.

It is a great addition to the Ryanverse Series

Uncle Orson and Aaron Johnston deliver again

The buggers are coming for round two. Human civilization knows it, yet inept politicians and career military bureaucrats are going to do their best to be the death of us all.

"Uncle Orson" and Aaron Johnston have once again teamed to deliver a look in the pre-Ender "Enderverse," and they do not disappoint. The book includes familiar "faces" from the first Formic War series, some new ones, and enough back-story and details to allow a new reader to pick up this book and enjoy it without reading the entire first series.

The voice cast's performance is stellar, though I would have expected nothing less, as the same team, plus or minus a few members, has been recording the vast majority of Card's works for years. Stefan Rudnicki, Arthur Morey, Emily Card Rankin, Paul Boehmer, and the rest of the team perform the book and its characters beautifully.

Before Avatar was Altair

Ben Bova released Winds of Altair in 1983, many years before Avatar would become a movie, yet this is such a similar story, and so exceptionally done, that you can hardly mention one without the other.

Bova combines a tale of morality and ethics in a species vs species conflict between humans who can't go home and a planet full of potentially sentient beings that do not want them there. Combine that with one of my true favorites as a narrator, Stefan Rudnicki, and you have an audiobook that will hook you and hold on to you from the first word to the last. Definitely worth a listen.

This is what the last book should have been

Outstanding. This is truly what his last book SHOULD have been. Action, adventure, drama, and a cliff-hanger to hold you until next time. Excellent.

Masterfully voiced by Fred Berman, who has narrated most of the series so far, Fall of Hades will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire book.

Funny and insightful

Dan delves in to his journey through the oft-ridiculed and stereotyped subculture surrounding meditation using his own brand of self-deprecating humor and sharp remarks. While he seems to push Buddhism a little more than I would like for a book that was not marketed as religious proselytizing, it is easy enough to look past that and glean real wisdom and useful "takeaways" from his walk down the Buddhist path.
As you would expect from a professional newsman, Dan delivers his text beautifully and simply, with a tone that keeps you listening the entire time.

Overall, I will be recommending this book to my colleagues and family.

Book one of a masterpiece

Would you consider the audio edition of The Way of Kings to be better than the print version?

Yes, both because of the talent of Kate Reading & Michael Kramer, and the ability for Brandon Sanderson to write works that adapt well to spoken word.

What other book might you compare The Way of Kings to and why?

The Way of Kings - and the entire Stormlight Archive - is very similar to the Wheel of Time series - similar level of technology, evil-has-been-asleep-and-is-rising, extremely long story arc, etc.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was definitely when Kaladin faced the storm, strung up by his ankles, with Syl protecting him from the debris.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cannot say I had an extreme reaction to this book. There were several times I became frustrated with the decisions the characters made, or the situations they were about to be in - and would stop listening for a while - but no, no 'extreme' reactions.

Complex, Engaging, Exciting

When Shallan Davar produced her shardblade for the first time.

Which character – as performed by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading – was your favorite?

Too many to choose from. Sebarial is great. Dalinar is excellent. Pattern, voiced by Kate Reading, is hilarious.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. You cant, and not just because of length. The complexities of the Cosmere, the interaction of the characters - you have to give yourself time to process pieces of the book before moving on
