Interesting, captivating and intriguing
Revisado: 09-27-24
I had heard about this book several time and it made me curious. I remember watching and enjoying a tv series called Numbers about a math genius and another more recently called Scorpion. Scorpion was had a team of geniuses and was based on the real life of Walter O’Brien. Calculated did not disappoint. Its novel story, well crafted characters and fast paced plots intertwine to form a very enjoyable adventure. I hadn’t thought of an interesting way to keep the series going so the ending of book one was unexpected but greatly appreciated. I’m downloading the additional books in the too short series now and can’t wait to see the movie after it’s completed production.

Surprisingly interesting story and characters
Revisado: 12-17-23
I was looking for a lengthy series that was a little different from now usual. This series popped up and initially the sound quality appeared off but I quickly got used to it as I became more engaged in the stories and characters.
Definitely better and different than I expected as I keep thinking there could be a mystical explanation for the cases but continue to be surprised. Tempest is a bumbling detective with everyday ups/downs and life issues surrounded by a well developed cast of colorful characters.

Like the full length Joe Pickett stories better
Revisado: 12-12-23
It was my fault. Having listened to Joe Pickett books 1-7 individually and really enjoying them I splurged one day and bought the rest of the series. Now on book 13 I am very happy to have made the purchases. But what a surprise when this book played. I had assumed they were all full length stories but was mistaken. I’m not a fan of the shorter stories and didn’t like the first few at all. The ones concerning Joe and Nate were good but just teasers as once I got engaged it was over too short. It was interesting hearing the origin of the stories but if you like CJ Box and a fan of short stories this might be for you. His full length books are amazing.

Wanted to like it but couldn’t
Revisado: 08-17-23
I really wanted to like the story having just listened to all of the previous Godfathers and other books associated with the story but this story sucks and the narration is worse. It’s disjointed, has poor transitions and the low quality of the narration doesn’t help. There is so much that could have been done with the story and narration to make improvements. I would have never expected this quality on audible. I want a refund of my time too.

What a terrific book. Characters are very well developed and the interplay between them moves the story at a good pace. The only good thing about reading an older series is not having to wait for the next book.

Started off great!
Revisado: 01-02-23
To be able to hear and have the Catechism of the Catholic Church explained in small bit sized pieces every day as Fr. Mike did the Bible is a true blessing. His ability to explain the living document and relate it to our daily lives and faith can’t be underestimated. Thank you. I hope it reaches billions of people as it circles the globe. I hope to not miss a day and possibly re-listen over and over but as with the Bible in a year I may start and restart which is ok. It’s a journey. Just keep pushing pray, I mean play.

Great story after a slow start
Revisado: 01-02-22
I almost gave up on this story because it took such a slow plodding beginning.
But as it continued on I became a little bit more interested in the pace picked up.
I found it to be very detailed, informative and worth the time to listen. It is a darker topic but I could see the story happening unfortunately.

Historia
Composed toward the end of the first millennium, Beowulf is the elegiac narrative of the adventures of Beowulf, a Scandinavian hero who saves the Danes from the seemingly invincible monster Grendel and, later, from Grendel's mother. He then returns to his own country and dies in old age in a vivid fight against a dragon. The poem is about encountering the monstrous, defeating it, and then having to live on in the exhausted aftermath.

It may be great but it’s not what I had expected. So I rated based on lack of knowledge. I tried an old great and some I’ve liked. But this seemed like the same story/poem retold a few times in the same book.
