Historia
War has come to Kairos' doorstep right as his dynasty seems secure. The Poison Emperor Mithridates has launched his conquest of the Sunsea, sowing death and destruction in his path. The vile Romulus feeds on the chaos in the hope of freeing his dreadful master, the wolf-god Lycaon. As his final battle approaches, Kairos gathers his many allies to face his foes once and for all. Two would-be pantheons will now clash to determine which of them will inherit the Olympians' throne. At the apex of the world, there is only enough space for one.

Only about half Kairos
Revisado: 08-24-22
Very, very large portions of this book are from the point of view of the secondary characters.
The writing is otherwise consistent with the other two books in the series.
It’s a good end, but I would have preferred if Kairos made up a larger part of it.

Dylan is an average nerdy worker. By day, he works for an architecture firm. When his shift ends, he consumes all manner of superhero fiction—comics, books, or games. When an up-and-coming gaming company, Vert, announces a new superhero game—a game that promises infinite choice—Dylan is immediately ready to dive in. He has the perfect role in mind for himself: the egotistical supervillain from cartoons.

Promising premise, but disappointing execution
Revisado: 08-10-22
I wanted to like it; really, I did. I enjoy stories that focus around the villain character type, and the classical gentleman villain archetype is one of my favorites. That’s where this story excels.
It, however, falls short nearly everywhere else. There really is no overarching story and goal, and the plot feels haphazardly thrown together. It is very easy to become bored during the filler between missions.
The characters are absolutely unlikeable or exceedingly boring. Everyone is a one-dimensional trope and can be defined entirely by a single personality trait.
The protagonist himself has his moments, but overall I found him to be monotonously basic. He utilizes his power extremely poorly. What could be a game-breaking monster of a superpower is relegated to, what is essentially, a crafting job. “Mad Science” has the capability to alter the game on a fundamental level, and instead he uses it to make chocolate shooting water-guns.
The narrator is amazing. Really, this is some of the best narration I have ever heard.
Overall, if I had to sum up the entire book in one word, it would be disappointing.

I really enjoyed this.
The plot pacing and story are of very high quality.
The comedy, in my opinion, is excellent.

A mysterious, end-of-floor celebration for the top crawlers, dubbed “The Butcher’s Masquerade”. The sixth floor. The Hunting Grounds. As the remaining crawlers battle for their lives, a new, terrible threat looms. Outside, tourists are finally allowed to enter the game, and they are here and ready to hunt. Great book, please stop the yelling.
Revisado: 05-30-22
Awesome book. In my opinion, it’s the best in the series. Performance is consistent with previous books.
One caveat, please stop the use of capital themed yelling in the chat. It would be fine if it was only occasionally, but it is every time Donut messages someone. It makes listening to this difficult with the frequent change in audio.
I know this is a stylistic choice and consistent with her character, but it detracts from the listening experience for me.

My name is Randy—the noun, not the adjective. As a professional writer and accidental barbarian, I should be a prime candidate to be portaled to a LitRPG fantasy world known as Genera. It should be a no-brainer for me to grab the nearest weapon and start slaying bloodthirsty goblins, gaining levels, solving puzzles, and fighting my way to the top of a mysterious tower with seven distinct floors. Technically, I was born for this. Or so I thought. Unlike actual video games, if someone dies here in Genera, they die here for good. And I don't want to die.

Meh
Revisado: 05-09-22
It has it’s moments, but most attempts at meta-humor fall flat. This wouldn’t be such a problem, except almost every line was such an attempt.
The protagonists spends long stretches of time thinking to himself, and this drags on.
Progress in the story is haltingly slow.
This is truly a “meh,” book; audio performance is great though.

The Dragon that Just Keeps on Giving
Revisado: 03-28-21
To be brief, if you liked the first book, you’ll like this one. It continues with the same major themes and humor. The plot advances nicely, and the characters are still well written. The leveling system remains innovative in design and gets further fleshed out in this entry to the series.
The narrator remains the same from the first book, and their work is still extremely high quality.
The end does leave room for another sequel.

Great Continuation of the Story
Revisado: 08-03-20
This book is much like the first, but this has a vastly superior translation.
Will remains constant to his character, and he acts as you would expect him to.
I find a minor issue with how abrupt the ending is, but as a whole, this really doesn’t detract from the story at all. The final hour feels like a set-up for the next book, so it’s understandable.

Above Par Book Brought Down by Poor Translation
Revisado: 08-03-20
The story is great, and the world is well described. The protagonist himself is a very believable character with his own motives, goals, and outlook on life that very clearly influences his decisions. The mechanics of the game itself are unique from typical LitRPG, with interesting systems and different ways to complete quests.
The problem of this book is in the translation. The translation becomes steadily worse throughout the book, until things no longer make sense later. This is very noticeable in the dialogue in the final half of the book.
If you can power through the poor translation in the second half, a new translator takes over for the second book and does a much better job.
This really would be an 8/10 book, but the translation makes it feel more 5-6/10.

Historia
Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time. So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change. After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

Great Mix of Humor and Story
Revisado: 07-22-20
There were a few slight mistakes in the performance, such as the dragon voice effect not being applied (only happened 2 times I believe), but other than that, a really solid story and a good mix of serious storytelling and light hearted humor.
The relationship between the dragon and his “minion” evolving over time is actually heartwarming. Both characters achieve significant growth throughout the story.
The world the story is set in is very richly described, and the leveling/class system is very unique and interesting.
