At times it was tough to listen to the accounts of what the author had to go through as a child and into adulthood. But it was well worth continuing.

Throughout the book, Jennette McCurdy displays such honesty and vulnerability in sharing what must have taken true courage to share with the world. She does so with great wit and humor. It was very touching.

I applied and thank the author for sharing her story with us and I wish her well in her continued journey.

I have enjoyed learning about the medical history of the human heart. The story is informative and educational, yet relatable.

For me, the most important takeaway is the concept that psychosocial health and support as well as stress management have as much to do with preventing heart disease as do most other factors. This is key for me and I hope it helps many others.

I loved the story and the way it was told, from an authentic first person perspective that not only teaches valuable lessons about leadership, but does so from a very relatable and down-to-Earth perspective.

Great narration too.

Over the past few years I have personally spent countless hours learning about paradoxically positive health results from what would be considered by most to be harmful diets. For example, the conventional wisdom is that diets high in saturated fat and red meat are bad for our cardiovascular health. However, real people have recounted countless stories of becoming healthier and healing disease as well as reversing arterial calcification by following an animal-based diet of mostly red meat and eggs. This book actually helps to explain how this is possible, while shedding light on the fact that it’s not enough to consume high amounts of a specific supplement, but rather a balance of multiple nutrients found in whole, real foods that our ancient ancestors would have eaten.

If there is one thing I wish for in this book, it would be more references to studies/scientific data to back up the claims, but alas I cannot tell from this audiobook of those citations are in the print version.

The good news is that if you follow the author’s recommendation to ensure you are consuming a balance of vitamin K2, Vitamin D3 and vitamin A, along with reducing the amount of processed carbohydrates, then it should be relatively easy to monitor the results and observe the difference in bone density, teeth health, arterial calcification and more.

I laughed, I cried, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mike and Jenn’s intimate details of their most personal stories. Mike’s humor and delivery are superb…. And reminiscent of Billy Crystal

Based on the title, I was expecting a more well-rounded account of what it might be like to be a dog. To my surprise - and some annoyance - the entire book is focused singly on dogs’ sense of smell.

While the book is fascinating and I definitely enjoyed learning about the various aspects of olfactory - in humans as well as dogs, it felt like it went on for far too long about this singular subject. I would have liked to learn more about other aspects of “Being a Dog”.

Well-written and well-narrated, this book is helpful and to the point. I found the advice to be very helpful and plan to implement the learnings with my son amd my wife. The book made me realize just how often (almost always), we tend to give unsolicited advice, criticize or just let our frustrations get in the way of being helpful.

Dr Saladino has clearly done a lot of research and implemented the carnivore way of eating in his own life. His book is well-researched and well written, with plenty of scientific data to back it up. I like that Dr Saladino incorporated humor as well and I appreciate that he states when something is his opinion/belief and where more research is needed.

I enjoyed listening to Dr Saladino reading his own book. He did a good job and even allowed me to play it at 2x speed without losing clarity (hey, it’s a long book and time is money ;) )

Overall, this is highly recommended to anyone interested in improving their health through diet.

I was pretty disappointed in the book because I was hoping/expecting more practical advice on sleeping better and tips on dealing with midlife crisis.

While there are certainly some good and useful nuggets of information in this book (e.g., advice on usefulness of HRT, positive attitude and advice on accepting our imperfections), I found that this author spent way too much time on making the case that Gen X women have had it so bad. Frankly, my wife and I, being Gen X children of the 70’s and 80’s ourselves, felt that we were relatively lucky to have grown up when we were, compared with older enterarnos who have have had to deal with WWII, the Great Depression or the Cold War, yo name a few.

We found the chapter on Peri-menopause to be helpful, but we would have much preferred this info to come much sooner in the book and to take a more prominent place in it. Instead, the author spends only part of the chapter on this and then goes back to the reasons why GenX women have it worse than other generations do.

I was expecting a short book about intermittent fasting to be consistent and well researched. But what I found instead was a very small amount of content that was inconsistent and more than half the book focused on specific foods and recipes. It was disappointing that the author focused so much time on types of foods/macros instead of the mechanics and tips for fasting itself.

Examples of inconsistencies:
- Author mentions that the goal of fasting is to reduce insulin, but then recommends that 25% of calories come from carbs.
- Author instructs to avoid sugar, but then recommends fructose and foods that are rich in carbs/sugar (e.g., lots of fruit, sweet potatoes and grains).
- Author says not to count calories, but then o strict to limit consumption to a specific amount of calories.
- Author says to eat healthy fats, but then recommends low fat foods.
- The Author mentions become “fat adopted,” but fails to recognize that consuming too many carbohydrates will directly interfere with becoming fat adopted.

While a low carb high fat way of eating would be much more compatible with IF, I would have much preferred this book to leave the specific macros/foods out and really focus on the fasting itself.

Lastly, the author never mentions the importance of supplementing with minerals and electrolytes when fasting.
