Historia
With the imagery of a poet and the reflection of a philosopher, David Whyte turns his attention to 52 ordinary words, each its own particular doorway into the underlying currents of human life. Beginning with "Alone" and closing with "Work", each chapter is a meditation on meaning and context, an invitation to shift and broaden our perspectives on the inevitable vicissitudes of life: pain and joy, honesty and anger, confession and vulnerability, the experience of feeling besieged and the desire to run away from it all.

A healing friend on life's not so easy journey.

This is the kindest and most insightful book I have ever picked up. I'm not sure I would be where I am without it., and this is not so much a book for me but more of a favorite song. it's a constant companion for me .

Historia
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

Boring
Revisado: 03-29-19
I honestly have no idea how or why this book won a Pulitzer. I couldn't put together what was going on in this book or why anything was going on. Less was the most un-present main character I have ever come across. I have no idea why or how he had relationships let alone affairs. It was so hard to get through but I thought maybe there would be some light hearted moments or heartfelt times in the book but there were not. I'm curious as to what others who gave such great reviews saw in this book that I so clearly missed.

Not for me
Revisado: 03-10-19
The story was so predictable as to be boring. Christian characters combined with never ending morbid sexual scenes were too weird for me . The writing itself is very well done it's just not the kind of book I enjoy.
