Historia
They were the leaders, the men who made the decisions that change the outcome of battles... and the fate of continents. From the awesome landing at Normandy to the torturous campaigns of the South Pacific, from the frozen hills of Korea to the devastated wastes of Dien Bien Phu, they had earned their stars. Now they led America’s finest against her most relentless enemy deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia. It was a new kind of war, but the Generals led a new kind of army, ready for battle - and glory...

Interesting Military Story
Revisado: 11-12-24
Great story (minus some mistakes in military abbreviations, military time, etc.). I love most of the characters--especially Craig Lowell! He's hilarious!

Historia
Two months after D-Day, the Allies found themselves in a stalemate in Normandy, having suffered enormous casualties attempting to push through hedgerow country. Troops were spent, and American tankers, lacking the tactics and leadership to deal with the terrain, were losing their spirit. General George Patton and the other top US commanders needed an officer who knew how to break the impasse and roll over the Germans - they needed one man with the grit and the vision to take the war all the way to the Rhine. Patton and his peers selected Maurice Rose.

Amazing account of a truly amazing soldier and leader
Revisado: 09-03-24
This book was very well written with exceptional details about General Rose: his courage, his tenacity, his personal energy and his overwhelming desire to destroy the Nazis. Despite being outgunned and outnumbered by German forces on many occasions and in the face of mounting casualties, General Rose led his men to victory again and again. Overall a great story written by an author with the understanding and experience to relate it in an authoritative, realistic fashion.

Historia
Stalking the Red Bear, for the first time ever, describes the action principally from the perspective of a commanding officer of a nuclear submarine during the Cold War - the one man aboard a sub who makes the critical decisions - taking us closer to the Soviet target than any work on submarine espionage has ever done before. This is the untold story of a covert submarine espionage operation against the Soviet Union during the Cold War as experienced by the commanding officer of an active submarine.

Cold War Submarine Adventure
Revisado: 03-25-24
As a Cold War US submarine veteran, I appreciate the accuracy of details in the story. I'm pretty sure the author said that USS Blackfin (SSN xxx) was a fictional submarine, but the details and the overall weight of the events described match my own Cold War submarine experience (including inside the Arctic Circle) perfectly. Excellent book!

One of the best books I've heard in a while
Revisado: 12-13-22
Good plot, convincing characters, good narration, surprise ending (sort of). This book was much better than I expected. There were some curse words but nowhere near as many as there are in some books. All-in-all, I enjoyed the book. Thank you!

Historia
Thirteen-year-old orphan Alice Ringwald has no memory beyond six months ago. The only life she knows is the new one she's creating one day at a time with the loving couple that recently adopted her and gave her new hope. That hope, however, is shattered one night when she is abducted by a strange man. In a frantic FBI man hunt, the kidnapper vanished with Alice. So begins Water Walker, a modern-day parable that examines the staggering power of forgiveness, and reminds us that it's possible to live free of the hurt that keeps our souls in chains.

Indescribable!! MAGNIFICENT!!!
Revisado: 08-19-22
At times my heart was in my throat with the suspense and at others, my heart was brought low, considering the evil that men can inflict upon each other. At the end, good triumphs over evil, as it one day indeed shall. Ted Dekker's writings are unusual, to say the least, but this one stands out, offering, in a way, hope to the hopeless. An excellent work!

By far the best book of this kind I've ever read
Revisado: 08-12-22
I served in 2 branches of the U.S. military, worked as a federal law enforcement officer and later as a commercial (hardhat) diver for nearly 25 years. During those 45 +/- years, I've led men, been led by other men & also suffered under the "leadership" of some--just as some have also suffered under my own at times inept leadership. This book offers some sound wisdom & practical application of principals for those who would lead others but it is not presented as a how-to book. I intend to listen to it again, maybe several times. For what it's worth, I highly recommend it. Excellent book. --RS

Details Conflict With Many Other Accounts
Revisado: 07-29-22
The narrator did an OK job but nothing to rave about. Conversations between story characters were interesting. While no living person knows what really happened at the the ambush where Bonnie & Clyde were killed, many details conflict with other, more well known & researched accounts. Not sure where the author got his / her information, but it seems like more research was needed on the author's part. I probably would not have purchased this book had I known this in advance.

Mystery author Rachel Goldman is getting used to the idea that her fictional creation, Duffy Madison, has somehow taken flesh-and-blood form and is investigating missing person cases not far from where Rachel lives. Wait. No. She's not getting used to it at all, and the presence of this real-life Duffy is making her current manuscript - what's the word? - lousy.

Historia
The Spanish galleon Arista sank in 1539 due to a storm and the heavy weight of its cargo. The ship had been carrying Aztec golden treasure: chains, goblets, plates, statues, lamps, ceremonial swords, bricks, bars, and coins, all of solid Aztec gold. Much of the gold, however, had been thrown overboard trying to save the ship.

Excellent diving story!
Revisado: 07-19-22
This is a story in which technical details match what's really going on! I've read a few diving books over many years & this is the first one that wasn't full of fanciful imaginary diving details. I was a commercial diver for 25 years, an air diving supervisor (not mixed gas or saturation, although I had been trained in both), & in this book, ALL the math, gas mixes (although I never heard of a hydrogen-based decompression gas--?), procedures, etc., were right on! I started diving after the USN & US Army, in the 1980's so some of what I learned is probably obsolete but this is a good adventure story with details that make sense, in spite of some nasty characters (which, thankfully, are fictitious, im sure). Great story with a humorous ending!
