I read the book and loved it. Then I listened to it. So much better. I could better keep track of the characters and understood the emotions more deeply.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Hot diggedy!
Revisado: 01-02-18
If you felt--thanks to Weir--that you could feel the sand and taste those potatoes on Mars in that other book, then get ready to meet the Moon up close and personally. I am blessed I listened to the audiobooks both times because both readers were supurb. And hold on to your seats because the suspense is just as intense, the science is just as sterling, and the characters so whole that you feel you could name their pets and favorite colors.

Historia
Since the days of conquistador Hernán Cortés, rumors have circulated about a lost city of immense wealth hidden somewhere in the Honduran interior, called the White City or the Lost City of the Monkey God. Indigenous tribes speak of ancestors who fled there to escape the Spanish invaders, and they warn that anyone who enters this sacred city will fall ill and die.

Concluding comments elevate true adventure
Revisado: 01-05-17
The true first person narrative is thrilling. The finds, breath-taking. The historical, archeological, academic and political facts are satisfyingly explored. But the rest of the story--the unexpected melding of catastrophic experiences 5 centuries apart--and the author's. conclusions about it make the book unforgettable.

Historia
The youngest, half-goblin son of the Emperor has lived his entire life in exile, distant from the Imperial Court and the deadly intrigue that suffuses it. But when his father and three sons in line for the throne are killed in an "accident," he has no choice but to take his place as the only surviving rightful heir. Entirely unschooled in the art of court politics, he has no friends, no advisors, and the sure knowledge that whoever assassinated his father and brothers could make an attempt on his life at any moment.

Most satisfying
Revisado: 10-29-16
My favorite fantasy to listen to over and over again. Fantasies most often involve battles and wars. This book would be a vacation. Yet it is full of engrossing plot. twists and character landscapes. The narrator nails each character with a voice to match...and there are quite a few.

Historia
In this volume, Steven Johnson explores the history of innovation over centuries, tracing facets of modern life (refrigeration, clocks, and eyeglass lenses, to name a few) from their creation by hobbyists, amateurs, and entrepreneurs to their unintended historical consequences. Filled with surprising stories of accidental genius and brilliant mistakes - from the French publisher who invented the phonograph before Edison but forgot to include playback, to the Hollywood movie star who helped invent the technology behind Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

6 Yummy Techie Dishes Eons in the Making
Revisado: 07-26-16
A most satisfying read. Each subject--"Cold," "Light," etc.--is delightfully organized to carry us through thousands of years of developments stopping on the most significant ones to explain their ramifications to our world today. The book explains away a lot of historical holes in my understanding which is why I love it so much. Most excellent reread, or re-listen, too!

Letting go allows a life to unfold successfully
Revisado: 06-11-16
I glided through Singer's autobiography amazed at every turn it took, spiritually and then--unbelievably--financially. He is a business wizard who excels as a student, carpenter, software developer, organizational and event facilitator and friend all because he opens himself completely to Life both around him and in him. This is probably the book I would be happy to be stuck with on a desert Isle. Now, does Audible have The Untethered Soul?
