Historia
More than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results. Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia. Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways.

Aunt Lydia’s story
Revisado: 03-24-25
I’d first read the handmaid‘s tale 30 years ago and was so moved by it. I recommended it to everyone I knew! When it came out as a series, I was so excited to see how one of my favorite books would be told on screen, needless to say I was very pleased. And of course, with our current political climate, the story resonated even more with me, fearful that a version of this could actually happen. Anyway, aunt Lydia’s story is one I always wondered about, where did she come from and what could make a woman do some of the things she did in the story. I love how she redeems herself in a way.

Historia
Set against the backdrop of a changing America, from the aftermath of the Civil War to the dawn of new technologies like the telephone, Sin Eater paints a vivid picture of a society in transition. It delves into the customs and superstitions of the era, particularly the practices of sin eating and professional mourning, using these as lenses through which to explore deeper human experiences of grief, guilt, and redemption.

The way everything came around full circle

I loved Sin Eater! This being the third and final in the series it was wonderful.. The characters were so interesting and different all revolving around actual professions and rituals from the funeral industry long ago. This trilogy should be made into a film !
