Historia
They call them wayward girls. Loose girls. Girls who grew up too fast. And they’re sent to Wellwood House in St. Augustine, Florida, where unwed mothers are hidden by their families to have their babies in secret, to give them up for adoption, and most important of all, to forget any of it ever happened. Everything the girls eat, every moment of their waking day, and everything they’re allowed to talk about is strictly controlled by adults who claim they know what’s best for them.

The main character and how she sees her life from the beginning of her journey to the end and how much changed in that time.

For me this story was a little slow getting connected, into the story line. Once I was a bit further into the story I really enjoyed it and found that I didn’t really want to put it down and the end twist was fantastic! I truly LOVED THIS BOOK!

Revisado: 11-29-24
This book was very well written and with that it was tough at parts because there were some things that were happening that really were disturbing, the fact that reality is disturbing from time to time. You just never know what others go through.

Hands down one of the best books I’ve read/listened to!
Revisado: 11-19-24
I found this book to be very catching from page one to the very End! I highly suggest others read this and hope take a little something from the book. It’s important to remember that you never really know someone, there are versions of ourselves that get untold. There are things no one can truly know so that’s why there is always room for doubt, room for questioning your own judgement or thoughts of a person. Just try n Lee an open mind and heart. Don’t jump to conclusions and hear people out before making rash decisions. Doing things in the heat of your emotions is not ever a good idea! Sit with your emotions and thoughts until they simmer. Then re visit the situation and then come to a conclusion. If you still can’t shake your feelings then walk away in some manner to eliminate your self safely from said person or persons and let them go… murderer isn’t worth it in the end!
That’s my long take on my own personal take away from the book. Also this book was just so well written that you think you can guess things about to happen till u read in n find it’s not what you thought. That’s a breath of fresh air when it comes to books and movies nowadays.

Definitely loved this novel
Revisado: 05-25-24
I started this book it took me about two months to get through the first part not just because of how it began but because life happens. I started it back up n had forgotten what was going on and so it took me a couple chapters to get the basics. When I finally did I couldn’t stop reading! I love that I didn’t know who killed who n really wasn’t 100% on weather or not the woman was really dead or alive n they way he wrote that out was fantastic! Coben had really captured each person very well with raw emotion, energy and I fell in love with Beck and his sister in-law! Then the way the gangster was written and portrayed like yeah he is in that life n he knows it’s messed and all yet, he is clean and a great father and hero in the end! I have to say that people who get into that life style for WHATEVER reason don’t all end with being a P.O.S all the time they do have other things about them that evens out there soul and I liked how he put that in the book. Well there’s more I could say but I’m running on n on. So on that note what a great book thank you Harlen Coben for writing this what a mash hit.

Historia
David Sheff's story is a first: a teenager's addiction from the parent's point of view, a real-time chronicle of the shocking descent into substance abuse and the gradual emergence into hope.
Before meth, Sheff's son, Nic, was a varsity athlete, honor student, and award-winning journalist. After meth, he was a trembling wraith who stole money from his eight-year-old brother and lived on the streets. With haunting candor, Sheff traces the first warning signs, the attempts at rehabilitation, and, at last, the way past addiction. He shows us that, whatever an addict's fate, the rest of the family must care for one another, too, lest they become addicted to addiction.

I really can’t explain all that I want to in this little box about this book but I can say I have learned things about my own childhood listening to this just reflecting on my own life experience’s. I had come across this book right after listening to his sons book. I had no idea when picking it out but 5 minutes in I was like oh wow this is really a treat! I loved how the author wrote it! Same goes for his son. I’m glad things went the way they did I the end because so often it doesn’t end as god as this family’s life played out. It’s a relief and I know there are so many people who struggle with addiction and all the above. It’s nice that people can share there stories of how life happened to them and get such great responses from so many walks of life around the world. We really do relate to most in one way or another even though we believe that it is just us who have these feelings and how could anyone know what it’s like but we al start as babies and have to grow and develop into old people, so I am not alone and neither are you! I hope more people reach out and communicate as best they can with someone hey can truly talk to. Because it will help at some point. Okay I’m sorry if my comment is confusing. I have so much I wanna say but text all my fast Flowing thoughts is difficult for me so I hope my words are some what understandable. Thank you for sharing and if you read this thanks for taking the time either way.

Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Historia
It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.
