Historia
France's iconic queen, Marie Antoinette, wrongly accused of uttering the infamous "Let them eat cake", was alternately revered and reviled during her lifetime. For centuries since, she has been the object of debate, speculation, and the fascination so often accorded illustrious figures in history. Married in mere girlhood, this essentially lighthearted child was thrust onto the royal stage and commanded by circumstance to play a significant role in European history.

Had a hard time paying attention to this one.
Revisado: 04-06-19
I enjoyed the movie years ago and thought perhaps I would give the book a try. In this case the movie was much better (aside from the ending) I just could not relate to any of the characters. It was more of a story telling book with a lot of fillers. The Narrator was great though I giggled at her enunciation of Marie Antoinette. In all, I could stay focused on the book. I personally listen to Audible to help me fall asleep. I found my mind wandering off too much and not paying attention.

Marie-Antoinette, Daughter of the Caesars is about the life, death, and legacy of Louis XVI's tragic queen, based upon the author's 30 years of research. Whenever possible, the historical persons speak for themselves out of memoirs and letters.

Revisado: 03-16-19
This has very little to do with Marie Antoinette. I am very disappointed. I expected this to be more specifically about her from a historical view. This more of a family tree with endless branches.

Struggled with the Narrator
Revisado: 02-18-19
I absolutely love Margaret George. I own everyone of her books. Unfortunately I had a hard time understanding the narrator who spoke very slow and low. Similar to mumbling when one talks to himself. He is very capable of speaking clearly in an audible tone because he did fantastic with other characters. I gave this book a bonified try but did not make it past chapter 15.

Historia
A young, naïve but ultimately courageous hedge knight, Ser Duncan the Tall towers above his rivals—in stature if not experience. Tagging along is his diminutive squire, a boy called Egg—whose true name is hidden from all he and Dunk encounter. Though more improbable heroes may not be found in all of Westeros, great destinies lay ahead for these two . . . as do powerful foes, royal intrigue, and outrageous exploits. Featuring more than 160 all-new illustrations by Gary Gianni, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a must-have collection that proves chivalry isn’t dead—yet.

It Took a Minute!
Revisado: 10-24-18
I listen to these books as part of my sleep routine. At first, it was difficult. The narrator's voice was very shrill and winey. Much like the irritating Viserys in the televised "Game of Thrones" It seemed that every character sounded the same...no matter who was being portrayed. I could not get into the story. I decided to look up the Actor who was reading the book. Low and behold...it really was Viserys. With my new knowledge, I found the story more bearable. Even enjoyable. I wish the book was longer. I also wished there was a thicker plot. It ended up being a fictional side story that went nowhere. In all, I still enjoyed the audible.

I love Roy Dotrice's storytelling!
Revisado: 07-31-18
By book 2, Roy Dotrice has really got these characters down! Though some of the gals do sound like "old crones", he has done his best with the voice he has. I appreciate that very much. I have heard the book read by a female voice whom could not get ANY of male voices on point at all. I am now on to Book 3!
