Historia
Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

The quality of the characters
Revisado: 02-21-25
The story was believable and suspenseful with lots of twists and turns. I hope there is another book because I’d love to see the main characters in a series.

Quality of character development

Kristen Hannah seems to do significant research for her books. I couldn’t put this book down and didn’t want it to end. Fabulous story based on history.

My new favorite author
Revisado: 12-19-21
I realize I’m late to the party but I recently listened to Apples Never Fall and loved it! Followed up with The Husband’s Secret and was delighted that Moriarty’s exquisite character development is consistent across her writing. I’m eager to read another of her books!

Historia
Margot Cary has spent her life immersed in everything Lake Sackett is not. As an elite event planner, Margot's rubbed elbows with the cream of Chicago society and made elegance and glamour her business. She's riding high until one event goes tragically, spectacularly wrong. Now she's blackballed by the gala set and in dire need of a fresh start - and apparently the McCreadys are in need of an event planner with a tarnished reputation.

Predictable and insipid
Revisado: 07-27-19
In the first chapter I could see where the story was going and there was very little variation from a predictable outcome.

Magnificent Insight Into Those Around Us
Revisado: 12-26-17
I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s insightful portrayal of the life of someone who appears “different “ from the norm. I found myself laughing, not at Edward, but in an empathetic way because of how he interacts with the world. A sensitive and entertaining novel. I’ve recommended the book to s number of friends. Excellent!

Unrealistic characters
Revisado: 05-03-17
I downloaded this book for a flight so I listened to the whole thing even though I could have predicted the ending almost immediately. The characters are all unrealistically kind, considerate, accept responsibility for actions, etc. No real twists or turns because it was predictable that the good guys would win in every instance. I was disappointed but the narrator kept it somewhat entertaining.

Disappointing
Revisado: 12-23-15
I have enjoyed many of Slauter's books and was looking forward to this one. However, I found it unnecessarily graphic and detailed with reference to the violence and torture depicted throughout the book. It was disturbing when the first scenes appeared but I continued reading with the idea that other aspects of the story would develop. The graphic depictions were revisited time and again. It's clear that she wanted to bring attention to human trafficking and violence against women but, for me, the level of detail and frequency was over the top. I was very disappointed.

Pearson does it again!
Revisado: 06-14-15
Another page-turner by Mary Pearson. The characters are engaging and the story kept my interest throughout. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat. This is an excellent YA story that I highly recommend.
