Historia
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Absolutely Fantastic!
Revisado: 04-03-14
This book Is one of the best i have listen to in a while, This series will go up in my favorites next to Byzantium and the Celtic crusades.
The best part about the final empire was the way he explained the use of magic in this world he has created. Very unique and its explained well, Each type of "allomancy"(the form of magic in the book ) Has its own uses, and has different ways to think and go about using them. This is the most well written magic system created by a single auther i have seen. Its really interesting to learn about them,
Fight scenes are written clearly and in a way that makes practical sense. This is something a lot of authors struggle with. Fight scenes take a lot of time to write. and to write them well takes a specific mindset. He does it really well and brings to life the two main characters.
Speaking of characters They are all amazing in their own way. Each is a believable character with their own quarks and highlights. and with a cast of 8-9 characters. this feels like an impressive feat.
I cant recommend this story enough Its truly worth the time and money.

The ending Of this really killed it for me.
Revisado: 03-25-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Well to start, from the begining to the end, its a giant disaster, of things going from bad, to worse, Thing just keep going wrong for characters without respite. However, the way the main characters go about it does make it interesting, And for the most part, as long as you don't mind a story thats just one big,, "poopstorm" For lack of a better word.
What was most disappointing about Karen Miller’s story?
The ending, It was a solid story of series of unfortunate events with characters acting rashly. and others getting more understanding, The most interesting tidbits of the king-maker king-breaker, was the villians opinions of the rest of the characters. But that being said, The ending was awful, the last 20-30 minutes are a gaint fight scene that is unclear, uninteresting, and completely predictable, with "shock factor" thrown in for no other reason than to make it more "tragic" and it killed my somewhat waning interest in the story because "Everything is going wrong because of prophecy" Pro-log was decent enough. i guess
What about Kirby Heyborne’s performance did you like?
He does vioces well, in these two books, and does a good job of patraying people of different groups
Do you think The Awakened Mage needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Its done. i dont think ill read anymore of her books, these books were fine, but ive had my fill, again the ending ruined it for me.
Any additional comments?
Ending bad, journey there, decent, And one character's arc is rather interesting, even if he was just a side characters.

Historia
"The Innocent Mage is come, and we stand at the beginning of the end of everything." Being a fisherman like his father isn't a bad life, but it's not the one that Asher wants. Despite his humble roots, Asher has grand dreams. And they call him to Dorana, home of princes, beggars, and the warrior mages who have protected the kingdom for generations. Little does Asher know, however, that his arrival in the city is being closely watched by members of the Circle, people dedicated to preserving an ancient magic.

Good story, can be slow
Revisado: 03-25-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I think this book is worth the time, provided your not hugely interested in books based around action. Its a fairly solid world. Not great, This book flows around characters and the drama surrounding them, within a fantasy setting. Unfortunately not all the characters are built well. but there are some good ones, and is worth the read if you Like books based around character drama and development.
Would you recommend The Innocent Mage to your friends? Why or why not?
It depends. Some i would, some i wont. I think a lot of people would find this and its squeal boring.
Have you listened to any of Kirby Heyborne’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
These two books are the only two ive heard from him but, he does a solid job, Though this is one of the issues with the books. Either the reader potrays many moments as very Soap opera-esk And seems overly dramatic at times. Or maybe thats the book and its writing. To tell i would need to listen more from Kirby, But this audiobook was very... overly dramatic at times.
Was The Innocent Mage worth the listening time?
For the most part, yes. Beginning drags but for most of it, its a solid piece of work
Any additional comments?
This book ends in a straight up cliff hanger. and its very very irritating if you want even some kind of resolution, but it offers none, You need to have the next book ready. Its basically one long book broken up into two. The biggest difference between this and its sequel is the tone.
If you like character dramas, and have some extra money, go for it. If not, pass this over
