As young adults, John and Kara—father and daughter—had much in common. Avid sports lovers. Life of the party. Abiding faith in God. And a diagnosis that blindsided and benched them: aggressive, terminal cancer. John and Kara battled their diseases with cutting-edge medical treatments. Both had countless prayers lifted on their behalf. Both believed in a powerful, loving God who could heal. Yet one lived and one died. How can we accept both endings as from the hand of God? Did one person have greater favor? Deeper faith?

Encouraging story with balanced Biblical insights into God’s heart of healing love in this beautifully written and narrated book
Revisado: 04-16-25
I’m grateful for the spiritual depth and encouragement provided by this book, it is definitely on my Favorites list! It’s not only well worth the read, it is well worth reading/hearing more than once. I’m sure I’ll return to it repeatedly in the future,
This touching story spoke to my heart in a very personal way because my mother had strong faith in God and prayed for healing from cancer, and she was healed completely… in heaven.
I was also diagnosed with cancer, but I was healed by God, with the help of doctors. Yet, ultimately, we were both healed.

The devotionals were great! However, I’ve always thought that the conclusion of the book, The Secret Garden, was anti-climatic and abruptly cut short.

This is such a charming story, but it seemed as if it ended too abruptly.
The author presented great insight into the impact a person’s thought-life, (whether positive, or negative), can have on the body, as well as affecting every other aspect of life.

I have been blessed by Lettie Cowman’s “Streams in the Desert” for many years. My mother introduced me to it, and I continued this family heritage by giving a copy to each of my daughters. We also have the added blessing of listening to/reading “Streams…” via Audible & Kindle books. This author has now become another one of my favorites, and the narration was good too… with the exception of the long pauses between chapters

Historia
With decades of hindsight, the peaceful end of the Cold War seems a foregone conclusion. But in the early 1980s, most experts believed the Soviet Union was strong, stable, and would last into the next century. Ronald Reagan entered the White House with no certainty of what would happen next, only an overriding faith in democracy and an abiding belief that Soviet communism—and the threat of nuclear war—must end. The Peacemaker reveals how Reagan’s White House waged the Cold War while managing multiple crises around the globe.

Historia
Spanning the years of transition, 1944 to 1948, Ascent to Power illuminates Truman’s struggles to emerge as president in his own right. Yet, from a relatively unknown Missouri senator to the most powerful man on Earth, Truman’s legacy transcends. With his come-from-behind campaign in the fall of 1948, his courageous civil rights advocacy, and his role in liberating millions from militarist governments and brutal occupations, Truman’s decisions during these pivotal years changed the course of the world in ways so significant we live with them today.

Regardless of the story, I can’t give this book a high rating because the audio volume was so low that it was difficult to hear it, even if there was relatively low background noise in my home. In addition, the narrator did not enunciate clearly.

Lovely stroll down memory lane… gotta re-listen to his ‘destiny’ book! His narration was great, it continued to improve after the first few minutes. The photos are a treasure… worth pulling my iPad out to zoom in and view them. As with his other books, I’m sure I will be listening to this book more than once.

Beth told significant parts of my story… (& yours) …?
Revisado: 01-07-24
As a Christian woman having grown up in church, I’m sad to say that the misogynistic, controlling and power -oriented teachings, (which are often accompanied by sexual abuse), within ‘the church’ and religious organizations, are not relegated to only one Christian church denomination. It has been widespread for far too long. Although these things also occur in many non-Christian organizations throughout the world, it’s nothing short of heart sickening to observe and experience it within what should be the safety and security of the Church, by those who (supposedly) follow Jesus and claim to be a reflection of Him. Beth’s insight, wisdom and integrity in regard to Trump’s words and behavior, and regarding the shameful responses to his atrocities by many evangelical Christians and leaders was, and is, courageous. Unfortunately, there are far too many of us who can also identify with the abuse that Beth Moore was subjected to by her father. I’m grateful for her honest and healing transparency in sharing her story… (my story), and without question, the story of many women’s lives. I also appreciate her emphasis on responding to these wounds by continuing to pursue a life of forgiveness and God’s healing of the soul… instead of permanently surrendering to pain, self-pity, anger and bitterness as a lifelong “victim.”
