Historia
Dalton Greaves is a hero. He’s one of humankind’s first representatives to Unity, a pan-species confederation working to bring all sentient life into a single benevolent brotherhood. That’s what they told him, anyway. The only actual members of Unity that he’s ever met are Boreau, a giant snail who seems more interested in plunder than spreading love and harmony, and Boreau’s human sidekick, Neera, who Dalton strongly suspects roped him into this gig so that she wouldn’t become the next one of Boreau’s crew to get eaten by locals while prospecting.

Just a very mediocre and simplistic story, I regret having wasted a credit on it

Historia
Former spy Maggie Bird came to the seaside village of Purity, Maine, eager to put the past behind her after a mission went tragically wrong. These days, she’s living quietly on her chicken farm, still wary of blowback from the events that forced her early retirement. But when a body turns up in Maggie’s driveway, she knows it’s a message from former foes who haven’t forgotten her. Maggie turns to her local circle of old friends—all retirees from the CIA—to help uncover the truth about who is trying to kill her, and why.

Pretty good but overly dramatic
Revisado: 11-19-23
Good story, and I’ll probably read others in the series if offered. But woah, the main character is SUCH a drama queen at times. My eyes got sore from their frequent rolling. The narrator is fine but robotic, at times difficult to distinguish from those synthetic voices encountered on social media.

Story is great, format is not
Revisado: 04-26-20
These three books are one story and cannot possibly stand on their own as in a regular series. In fact, they may as well have each finished mid-sentence for as much sense it made to split them where they did. They also clearly weren't split solely due to length either, since many Sci-Fi books are much longer. So this is another example of a publisher splitting a book up purely for profits which I think is shameful. It may seem unfair for me to "punish" the book/author with 3 stars solely for this reason, but it's my opinion that the author was either part of the decision or holds some responsibility for working with an unscrupulous publisher.
The story itself, however, when considered as a whole is pretty darn good!! It starts strong, the middle section is the weakest and the book really starts to shine in it's last third. It's a great combination of science, exploration, mystery and "first contact" and certainly entertains.

Historia
How do you tell your part in the biggest tale in history? I ask because it's what I have to do. I'm Zoe Boutin Perry: A colonist stranded on a deadly pioneer world. Holy icon to a race of aliens. A player (and a pawn) in a interstellar chess match to save humanity, or to see it fall. Witness to history. Friend. Daughter. Human. Seventeen years old. Everyone on Earth knows the tale I am part of. But you don't know my tale: How I did what I did—how I did what I had to do—not just to stay alive but to keep you alive, too.

This series is fantastic, but this particular book is silly and a waste of money. It doesn’t progress the story any further but just recounts the previous book, adding very little detail, from Zoe’s perspective as narrator. While I’ve seen this trick done very well before, it just fell flat here - there wasn’t any worthwhile new twist or revelation. I wish I knew this ahead of time, I would have just skipped ahead.

Historia
Harmony House is more than a “special place for special people.” It’s a think tank where high-functioning autistic savants harness their unique abilities for the benefit of society. Resident Eddie Parks’s contribution: an “echo box” that can re-create never-recorded sounds using acoustic archeology. All Eddie wants is to hear his late mother’s voice. But what he’s created is inadvertently posing a threat to national security. To Harmony House’s shadowy government backers and radical extremists, the echo box is the ultimate intelligence asset - an end to the very concept of secrecy.

Not really that great...
Revisado: 03-16-19
It's not terrible, just "meh". The story gets a bit tiresome over time, the science is absolutely absurd and the ending is a little like the author just got tired of writing. I like what the author tried to do with unconventional characters but it was too too much like Rain Man. Rain Man was good, but I've already seen it.

Historia
It’s been 120 years since the 50 or so worldships containing the few million survivors of the human species set off after the planet Earth was destroyed by a meteor. On the Worldship Humility, Sam, a 30-year-old Airlock Operative, is bored. Living in space should be exciting and full of adventure, except it isn’t, and he fills his time hacking 3-D movie posters and holographic adverts outside the stores in the retail zone. Petty thief Yasmine Emile Dufont is also from the WS Humility, but she is not bored....

A rare find indeed
Revisado: 02-19-19
This is one of those very rare books (I've only found TWO so far in my years of using Audible*) where, even though the book itself is fantastic in it's own right, it's then made better than it could ever be on it's own due to the genius of the narrator's performance. Combined together (the book and the narration), this was a masterpiece that was a delight to listen to. Don't get me wrong - this book will probably never be up for a Man Booker or similar award - it's not serious literature or science fiction and has is fair share of crudity and "locker room humor". But I frequently laughed until my stomach hurt and couldn't wait to keep listening when I had to stop. I am planning to start the book over again -- and I never do that. Please Audible, RR Haywood and Colin Morgan: Write and narrate 16 more of these?
(*I know I can't just casually make that statement without telling you the other book: it's A Gift of Time by Jerry Merritt)
