Historia
It is 1995, and Anvar Faris is a restless, rebellious, and sharp-tongued boy doing his best to grow up in Karachi, Pakistan. As fundamentalism takes root within the social order and the zealots next door attempt to make Islam great again, his family decides, not quite unanimously, to start life over in California. Ironically, Anvar's deeply devout mother and his model-Muslim brother adjust easily to life in America, while his fun-loving father can't find anyone he relates to. For his part, Anvar fully commits to being a bad Muslim.

He characters are not really Muslim
Revisado: 05-03-21
Enjoyable story and characters but none of them practiced nor understood islam, so not really sure why they are portrayed as Muslim. None of them seemed to believe in God. That’s the most essential requirement to be Muslim- belief in one God. Other then that it was an enjoyable book. Well read. Except for how the man reading for Anvar mispronounced “Allah” as if it began with the Arabic letter ein, which has a guttural e sound. It does not. Allah begins with alif which sounds alike an A. Actual Muslims will probably find both do these facts major detractors from the rest of the story. Non Muslims may find some of the lowest base stereotypes of Islam reinforced.

No one at Meetpoint Station had ever seen a creature like the Outsider. Naked-hided, blunt toothed and blunt-fingered, Tully was the sole surviving member of his company -- a communicative, spacefaring species hitherto unknown -- and he was a prisoner of his discoverer/captors the sadistic, treacherous kif, until his escape onto the hani ship The Pride of Chanur.

An enthusiasts opinion!!!

loved it of course as I've previously read the hard copy...
the narrating was more than excellent as the intonation of the female narrator was perfect...
the variance in the story (converting it to vocal naturally had to change it) was masterfully crafted and I applauded it....
