I read the first book in one day with short chapters and quick action. This allegory could almost be too simplistic, but once you put the thoughts and ideas in place, it was fun to read. I didn't want to wait for an interlibrary loan, so I chose to listen to Audible. Not having listened to the first book, the narrators threw me off a bit as I never imagined them sounding British. The narrators did a fine job handling most of the voices. I went ahead and just purchased book three so as to avoid an interlibrary loan, and as of yet, there is no narration on Audible.

Joel Salatin just makes sense. In light of today's authoritarianism, he has answers! Even a decade after this was published, his insights and common sense stands the test of time and scrutiny. Joel Salatin has the gift of taking all difficulties plaguing small businesses, in particular, farm to market access, and articulates what many people question on a daily basis when they can't acquire what they demand. A staunch proponent of personal responsibility and libertarian solutions to governmental red tape, borne out of Americans cry to have government solve the problems instead of taking the responsibility to solve local problems locally. Joel is a natural storyteller and keeps you engaged, especially when you question the official governmental narrative, post-2 weeks to flatten the curve! If you view the government as necessary for every detail of your life and believe if government hasn't ok'd it, it's not "good" enough; you probably won't enjoy his refreshing honest view of everything. But if you are willing to have your government centric narratives challenged, you might find this book enlightening.
