Historia
After the killing of a prominent mob lawyer, NYPD homicide detectives Jacob Jackson and Caitlin Grimes start receive chilling, written “rules” for how to commit the perfect murder. "Rule number one for the perfect murder: Evidence is your enemy. Leave none behind." Jackson (Reid Scott) and Grimes (Cobie Smulders) race to find the killer, setting them on a collision course with the city’s crime underbelly, and a perpetrator who seems happy to toy with them. “Rule number two. No crimes of passion. The perfect murder is always business, never pleasure.”

Historia
Three apparently unrelated art thefts in three separate cities have more in common than anyone imagines. As a renowned art investigator, a police inspector, and a Scotland Yard inspector take up their separate investigations, a trail of bizarre clues and intellectual puzzles reveals forgeries, over-paintings, and double-crosses in an ever-deepening conspiracy.

This book was a fun surprise. I bought it thinking it was a nonfiction book with a very similar title and was instead pleasantly surprised by this delightful story. The characters were fantastic and it kept you guessing till the end. As soon as I finished it, I started over again because I wasn't ready to say goodbye to the characters yet and I also wanted to see if I could catch the clues I missed along the way. Very fun, enjoyable book. The reader did a great job. My only critical comment is that sometimes the transition from one setting to another got lost. It's probably the kind of thing that would be evident in the physical book that is harder to convey in an audiobook. But that is a minor thing.

Historia
Pretty, smart, and pampered, Audrey Marie Hilley grew up in a small Alabama town believing she was entitled to the best of everything. But marriage to her high school sweetheart, a cushy secretarial job, and motherhood were not enough to satisfy Marie, and she soon began to act out in troubling ways. Only when her husband, Frank, became sick with a mysterious illness, did it seem that she was ready to put someone else's needs ahead of her own. The truth was far more disturbing.

This is a crazy good true crime story of a true narcissistic sociopath. It's a wild ride, well written and well narrated. Some reviewers complained about the reader, but I thought he was great. This held my attention the entire time. If you like true crime, listen to this book!

Historia
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

One of the best in the series!
Revisado: 03-29-21
I've loved this series for a while and thoroughly enjoyed this one. Maisie is in many ways coming into her own in this book - she's raising her voice more and becoming stronger, and I think it adds so much to her already wonderful character. It also makes sense in the midst of war for her emotions to be closer to the surface. I don't care for the love story between her and Mark. In comparison to her relationships with Simon and James it feels ... bland. Empty. Forced. There's very little "on screen" chemistry between them, so it's hard to get behind it. But overall this was a wonderful book. Look forward to the next one!
