Historia
Killing the sadistic warlord known as the Dog Tongue took everything Gus Berry had, including the woman he loved. Now, all he wants is to get away from the bloody scene of their final showdown. But when he heads west in a stolen truck, a brutal snowstorm forces him to turn back—and seek refuge in the Dog Tongue’s former headquarters. Though it’s littered with human carnage, the abandoned luxury hotel has a lot to offer a guy like Gus. But in addition to soft beds and working toilets, he encounters still-lurking dangers both living and undead.

Historia
After an exchange student with bubonic plague turns up in a Reno hospital, a contractor with identical symptoms dies in Los Angeles. The government‘s official stance is that the cases are isolated and the outbreak is under control. But George Mack, a 30-year public health veteran, quickly realizes this is no ordinary plague. The death toll is too high, and the spread pattern make no sense. As Reno’s hospitals fill with victims, Mack begins to believe that there is more to the epidemic than the CDC is letting on - and that he must take drastic steps if he hopes to save his city.

Pretty Good
Revisado: 12-19-21
Started off a little slow and there were too many characters at the beginning but picked up midway.
Is it the best PA book ever? No.
Is it in the top 10? No....I'll give it a place in my top 40 though.
Worth a listen though and I am going to get the second book when it comes out.
The reason I took off a star for both the story and overall categories was because the author decided to give the respiratory type disease in this book the nickname "Drips" (or "Dripps" maybe, not sure since I listened to it and didn't see the text.
If it was meant as a shout out to The Stand's "Captain Trips", I didn't read it that way but found it unoriginal and was a little annoyed at it. But the Stand is one of my favorite post apocalyptic books ever, so it could have just been me being too critical.
Overall, good book and I do recommend it if you're into the genre.

I have been made dumberer...
Revisado: 08-23-21
As the Principal from Billy Madison once said;
"Ms. Hoover, what you have just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your incoherent rambling were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."
I am puzzled at how this book got some many positive reviews...I mean, I do..but I won't get political.
I suffered through all 8+ hours, mostly as an experiment to try find out if there were ANY redeeming qualities, like a good ending or a plot twist.
There isn't.

Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

Stranger in a Strange Land is the epic saga of an earthling, Valentine Michael Smith, born and educated on Mars, who arrives on our planet with “psi” powers—telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, telekinesis, teleportation, pyrolysis, and the ability to take control of the minds of others—and complete innocence regarding the mores of man. After his tutelage under a surrogate father figure, Valentine begins his transformation into a kind of messiah.

I grok It's Goodness
Revisado: 09-05-19
This book blew my mind when I read it (many times) in my younger years...it was the first time I read a fiction book that reiterated the very psychedelic and counterculture ideas and philosophies I very much resonated with.
Some things in the book are outdated (think how women were thought of 50 years ago) but most of it was ahead of it's time...like many of Heinlein's books, although this book is extra special.
Highly recommended, whether it's your first time coming across this book, or the 10th. Narrator did a perfect job.
And remember.....Thou art god, I am god. All that groks is god

PPAF (Positive Post Apocalyptic Fiction)
Revisado: 07-24-19
I read/listen to ALOT of apocalyptic fiction.... zombies, aliens, diseases, meteorites, EMPs and everything in between.
I purchased this book because I enjoyed the author's last book "The End of the World Runner's Club" (which was a bit darker).
It's safe to say that this book, if anything else, is unique in the genre.
Strangely innocent yet full of wisdom.
If you love animals you will enjoy this book that much more.
Narration is not too shabby, although I do think there are more appropriate narrators out there for this story.
All in all, recommended.

Historia
Boisterous, ribald, and ultimately shattering, Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has left an indelible mark on the literature of our time. Turning conventional notions of sanity and insanity on their heads, the novel tells the unforgettable story of a mental ward and its inhabitants, especially tyrannical Big Nurse Ratched and Randle Patrick McMurphy, the brawling, fun-loving new inmate who resolves to oppose her.

I read this book when I was younger and loved it. I actually think I enjoyed the audio version a little more, the narrator transported me to the hospital as if I was one of the looneys.

Historia
In this poignant and disturbing memoir of lost innocence, coercion, survival, and healing, Dianne Lake chronicles her years with Charles Manson, revealing for the first time how she became the youngest member of his Family and offering new insights into one of the 20th century's most notorious criminals and life as one of his "girls". While much has been written about Charles Manson, this riveting account from an actual Family member is a chilling portrait that recreates in vivid detail one of the most horrifying chapters in modern American history.

I definitely struggled to finish this book.
Although interesting at times, most of the book just dragged along.
The author's/narrator's monotone voice did not help.
I regret spending a credit on it.

In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

This book is unlike any Stephen King book I've ever read. It's amazing. It's very profound and insightful but in a dark, beautiful way. Very trippy. Highly recommended. George Guidall is the perfect narrator, his voice has the ability to put you in a type of trance.
