Historia
Writing in the heat of struggle against the rise of fascism in Germany, France, and Spain in the 1930s, communist leader Leon Trotsky examines the class origins and character of fascist movements. Building on foundations laid by the Communist International in Lenin's time, Trotsky advances a working-class strategy to combat and defeat this malignant danger.

Narrator Betrayed
Revisado: 02-11-25
Listen, Trotsky is dense as that's basically what you sign up for as a reader. Unfortunately I don't think the poor guy hired for this job was sufficiently prepared by the producers for all the names and terminology to be expected in such a book, the basic expectation for those people, and there were certain mistakes made that were quite glaring (if sometimes hilarious, e.g. "petty" bourgeoisie). The truly unforgivable thing, to me, is that the recording of last five minutes or so WASN'T EVEN EDITED and included the narrator's claps after an error so the editor knew where to break for the fresh, corrected segment. The guy's just doing his job! The production team really failed him and I hope he finds better work

Best Grishaverse Book Yet
Revisado: 06-10-23
Flippin' AMAZING book, this is the sixth of the series I've read now and this is simply the best so far. Top 3 of the year for me so far! All that said, they seriously need to organize character accents with narrators before recording these things. Every single one was really good but no one seemed to know what the other ones were doing, so there were massive discrepancies. Poor Jesper, is he British or isn't he? No is sure, sometimes not even in the same chapter. The audiobook overall otherwise absolutely SLAPS

OSC is a bad person
Revisado: 02-10-23
Listen, I chose this audiobook because I mistakenly thought Orson Scott Card was already dead and I could finally enjoy his work again. He isn't dead yet and he still claims people buying and reading his books means they support his homophobic beliefs and either way he will use that money to support the destruction of queer folks' rights in America. Yeah, this is a good book and the narrators do a lovely job, but the author is an asshole actively trying to hurt people. Maybe pick a different book.

Gorgeous, heartbreaking, hopeful
Revisado: 12-04-22
The poetry of Neil Hilborn is meant to be heard, and as achingly beautiful as it is to read in front of you, this is far, far superior. If you too have struggled with mental illness, this will drag you to the floor.

Emperor Mollusk. Intergalactic Menace. Destroyer of Worlds. Conqueror of Other Worlds. Mad Genius. Ex-Warlord of Earth. Not bad for a guy without a spine. But what's a villain to do after he's done... everything. With no new ambitions, he's happy to pitch in and solve the energy crisis or repel aliens invaders should the need arise, but if he had his way, he'd prefer to be left alone to explore the boundaries of dangerous science. Just as a hobby, of course. Retirement isn't easy though.

I had the BEST time!
Revisado: 09-26-22
This is without a doubt my favorite book I've read all year, Audible or otherwise. Absolutely wonderful from the very start and never stopped being wonderful for a second. Narrator Scott Aiello brought vibrant life to each and every character, even the poor shmuck soldiers from Saturn who couldn't go home looking like they didn't put up enough of a fight. I love this book so danged much. I am gonna be SO annoying about this book for ages, just you wait
