Historia
Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

Really a worthwhile read
Revisado: 01-29-13
Would you listen to Life of Pi again? Why?
Yes becuase the story is unusual and I like the way it was presented. An amazing situation told well and narated well.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Life of Pi?
The finding of the island.
Have you listened to any of Jeff Woodman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I almost cried at the demise of Orange Juice and did not like the demise of the Zebra.

Is it me or is it improving?
Revisado: 05-03-12
I really enjoyed the story, and was tempted to try his other book but Mr Bryce still has the tendency to "read" and the performance lacks flow but I must say that iether I am getting ued to this or it is improved. I like the way he portrays the characters and there, there is no problem, but when reading the narrative
and reaching the end of a line
he goes on to the next
instead of giving the narrative a natural flow as most narrators do so that it sounds as if the story is being told and not
read.
I found it to be perfect bedside listening, putting me into a good mood before falling asleep.
There are a few hillarious sketches that had me roaring with laughter.

Revisado: 04-22-12
A good story well written and narrated.
It is listed as a series but it is the only one in the series, I am hoping for more of the same.
It is often a little difficult to get ones mind around the time and distance factors, Yes, but the plot was good and surprising, Yes.
Well worth a listen.

Although space is a virtual vacuum, this does not mean there is no sound. Sound exists as electromagnetic vibrations. The specially designed instruments aboard the space probes were designed to pick up and record electromagnetic vibrations. This information, when sent back to Earth and decoded, can be heard as intriguing and beautiful sounds from space. The real music of the spheres.

Really out of this world!
I enjoyed listening to this and will play it/parts of it many times for relaxation and concentration.
There is no story and no narrator but I am glad I purchased this item.
It would have been nice to have an indication as to what you are listening to though, some sort of commentary however brief.

Historia
He was dragged from the sea, his body riddled with bullets. There are a few clues: a frame of microfilm surgically implanted beneath the skin of his hip; evidence that plastic surgery has altered his face; strange things he says in his delirium, which could be code words. And a number on the film negative that leads to a bank account in Zurich, four million dollars, and a name for the amnesiac: Jason Bourne. Now he is running for his life.

Such a pity - but mostly excellent
Revisado: 04-22-12
Huh? What did he say?
Unfortunately Mr Scott Bri has the tendency to use a soft voice with some parts so if you are listening in a noisy environment, like in a moving vehicle, you tend to lose the las par of some wo. (And possibly some sentences too?)
The book is exceptional. The story much better than the story in the movie but I see it as a bonus (similar stories in the same vein).
I thoroughly enjoyed the story and look forward to the next in the series (Supremacy) BUT I am going to opt for the abridged version narrated by Jeff Harding, even though it is 20 hours shorter. From the sample it sounds acceptable.
The performance of the narrator is mostly top notch but I hate it when people do not finish their words or sentences. If a word is worth saying then say it, dont sa i.

What a pity
Revisado: 01-05-12
I really enjoyed the story, similar to Driving over Lemons, and a Year in Provence, and am tempted to try his other books but ALAS the audio quality of this one is poor and Mr Bryce does not do justice to the story. He is clearly "reading" and the performance lacks flow. I like the way he portrays the characters and there, there is no problem, but when reading the narrative
and reaching the end of a line
he goes on to the next
instead of giving the narrative a natural flow as most narrators do so that it sounds as if the story is being told and not
read.
Maybe if someone else did the narration it would be better, but for now I think I will try buying one of his books and reading it myself.

At last, one of the world’s greatest works of science fiction is available - just as author Stanislaw Lem intended it. To mark the 50th anniversary of the publication of Solaris, Audible, in cooperation with the Lem Estate, has commissioned a brand-new translation - complete for the first time, and the first ever directly from the original Polish to English. Beautifully narrated by Alessandro Juliani ( Battlestar Galactica), Lem’s provocative novel comes alive for a new generation.

Definately NOT Star Wars - MUCH Better!
Revisado: 12-26-11
Really an outstanding read.
The Narrator is top class - it will be difficult listening to many others after this - The whole performance comes across as if he is telling the story - not reading it off. Pity he has not done much else - more please.
The story itself is not anything like Star Trek or Star wars. This is more like SCIENCE fiction as opposed to science FICTION. The story had me thinking hard about what was happening and more. It would be something like explaining how to use your credits to a mosquito. Mind boggled for certain.
I will reread again and again and would definitely recommend to anyone who is serious about science.
As a parting thought though, not "what’s it all for?" but "how did it start?"

Oliver Sacks' The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat tells the stories of individuals afflicted with fantastic perceptual and intellectual aberrations: patients who have lost their memories and with them the greater part of their pasts; who are no longer able to recognize people and common objects; who are stricken with violent tics and grimaces or who shout involuntary obscenities; whose limbs have become alien; who have been dismissed as retarded yet are gifted with uncanny artistic or mathematical talents.

Chancellor Manuscript not enjoyed
Revisado: 09-02-08
I had read this book years ago and enjoyed it. In this version the reader seems to have numb lips, often swallowing his words and the background music is of bad scratchy irritating quality. Compared to other audiobooks, well I am sorry I bought it.
