Historia
vy Morgan is a witch with a mind of her own. What she doesn't need is romantic entanglements. That's why Jack Harker's appearance in her life is such a conundrum. Jack Harker has a haunted past and all he wants is peace and quiet. He's left a life of violence and despair behind for the comforts of home and country. He might find peace in Ivy's presence, but he'll never find quiet.

If I could just get over the awful reader...
Revisado: 06-09-20
I could give this book 3 or 4 stars if it wasn't for the loud whiny, nasally, obnoxious sounding reader. She might be a good reader in other books, but not for these. The series is good, but I'm reluctant to purchase more because the reader makes the whole story seem ridiculous, and the characters even worse. Good thing I don't work for the company because the reader would be fired. Kudos to Ms. Hart, Read something else and try harder, Ms. Clark, better yet, get a day job.
So, I said I might give the book 3 or 4 stars. Aside from the horrible reader, the main character, in her determination to be independent and self sufficient, decides to put herself in danger and decline help over and over and over...and over, much to her own peril. I find myself shouting at Ivy "Oh my God, how stupid are you?!?!?" If that's not enough, i'm extremity annoyed with her beau for putting up with her ridiculousness. The story is meant to be light hearted, I understand, but that doesn't mean the characters need to make horrible decisions that people who don't have all their marbles might make.

The reader performed Rafes voice horribly.
Revisado: 01-15-16
I got no sense that Rafe could ever have any redeeming qualities because the reader made him sound like a filthy old evil, vile creep. I couldn't picture him as attractive, but as a short, hunched over, old Egore, and it was hard for me to connect the kindness he showed for his family to the gruff and discussing dirty evil monster that the reader forced me to picture.

Reader had one voice for all
Revisado: 11-22-15
Reader used the same voice for each character and for every emotion - silly little girl. The mother's sounded like silly little brain dead girls no matter what hardships they experienced. The sisters sounded like silly little brain dead girls, even when sad and rejected. The boys sounded like silly little brain dead girls through the whole book. It made the book sound silly and brain dead, and written by a little girl, for silly little brain dead girls. The idea of the book was cute. The writting left a lot to be desired. A better reader might have salvaged it, but instead, took away the last possible redeemable quality. I gave two stars for performance because the little girl who was the reader successfully pronounced all the words, and read at a seventh grade level. I'm assuming she's still in middle school. Kudos sweetheart.

Reader put me to sleep
Revisado: 11-20-15
The book might have been interesting if the reader didn't bore me to sleep. I found it difficult to pay attention to initially, because of the reader. After a while I was able to get into the story, but the sleepy boring voice kept me from enjoying it.

Awful reader. Distracted by her breathing problem
Revisado: 10-29-15
Is it lack of exercise, exhaustion, emphysema, what?! Her breathing and breathy voice is too distracting to enjoy the book. I think the series is good, but I'm struggling with it because of the reader. She should either get that breathing problem fixed or find another field of work. I haven't experienced many readers worse than this one. Let me revise that. I haven't experienced ANY readers worse than this one.

Reader doesn't read, she whispers
Revisado: 10-13-15
This was one of the most annoying readers I've ever heard. I didn't even finish the book. She whispered for every character. Why? I couldn't tell if she was sleepy, or bored. She just whispered through the whole thing. I don't know if the book is really any good. She didn't speak up enough to engage my interest. I think ANYBODY could have done a better job. And I mean that literally.
