Historia
Behind the tall, foreboding gates of a commune in Brazil, Daniella Mestyanek Young was raised in the religious cult The Children of God, also known as The Family, as the daughter of high-ranking members. Her great-grandmother donated land for one of The Family’s first communes in Texas. Her mother, at thirteen, was forced to marry the leader and served as his secretary for many years. Beholden to The Family’s strict rules, Daniella suffers physical, emotional, and sexual abuse—masked as godly discipline and divine love—and is forbidden from getting a traditional education.

First cult memoir I recommend
Revisado: 05-14-24
Daniella’s voice is powerful. I think anyone interested in cults, children in cults, group behavior would like the book. I would suggest especially for any one who grew up in a cult or cult like group- even though few are as horrible as the Children of God the way Daniella describes the dynamics has dynamics that I think anyone who was raised in will relate to and learn from.

Historia
Before Liz Lemon, before Weekend Update, before Sarah Palin, Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: A recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've always suspected: You're no one until someone calls you bossy.

Would you listen to Bossypants again? Why?
I probably won't listen to it again but I liked it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Bossypants?
Tina Fey's dad meeting Lorne Michaels.
Have you listened to any of Tina Fey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I haven't listened to her on an audio book before. It made me more interested in her other work.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, it wasn't a cliffhander just entertaining.
Any additional comments?
I made me laugh out loud many times.

Historia
At a New England boarding school, a sex scandal is about to break. Even more shocking than the sexual acts themselves is the fact that they were caught on videotape. A Pandora's box of revelations, the tape triggers a chorus of voices - those of the men, women, teenagers, and parents involved in the scandal - that details the ways in which lives can be derailed or destroyed in one foolish moment.

Very good book with interesting cast
Revisado: 01-25-13
Would you listen to Testimony again? Why?
I love the way it is narrated by a voice for each character. The music works well too. It's more than just an audio book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Testimony?
Lot's of them. Of course the end but I liked the narration for "the girl" whose name eludes me. I wondered if that personality came across so well in the book.
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
The varied cast of characters.
Who was the most memorable character of Testimony and why?
Probably Mike. Mostly because he had the quality in which you liked him and disliked him, he was sympathetic and annoying at the same time.
Any additional comments?
It's a good book to listen too.

Historia
Jacob Tomsky has worked in hotels for more than a decade, doing everything from valet parking to manning the front desk. He's checked you in, checked you out, separated your white panties from the white bed sheets, parked your car, tasted your room service, cleaned your toilet, denied you a late check out, given you a wake-up call, eaten M&Ms out of your mini-bar, laughed at your jokes, and taken your money. And in Heads in Beds, he pulls back the curtain on the hospitality business.

Yes, I already have.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Well, Jacob of course. He's funny and entertaining.
What does Jacob Tomsky bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He reads his book well and it's funny to listen to his inflection.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Tip the bellman.
Any additional comments?
It's entertaining and likely useful to hotel guests.

Most bizarre recording... is the narrator a human?
Revisado: 01-25-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the narrator had inflection in her voice.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
The case is interesting/
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She seems to have a possibly computer generated voice. The pronunciation errors were hysterical which was kind of funny. The narrator ruins the listen/
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
The story is very sad. I watched the trial but it has been awhile.
Any additional comments?
I would advise people to spend their money on a different audible book or buy the book.
