Historia
The most important fact about the coronavirus pandemic that turned the world upside down in 2020 is that our response to it has been an epic overreaction driven by a disastrous confluence of public and private interests - all of them purporting to “follow the science”. Since the lockdowns began, millions of Americans have relied on the reporting of Alex Berenson. Exposing the hysteria and manipulation behind the worst failure of public policy since World War I, this clear-eyed journalist has been a critical source of reason and truth.

narration
Revisado: 09-16-22
I love the narrator's accents and it was really unfair to give him 3 stars so I changed to 4. He has quite the range, but overall I'm ever disappointed when there's not a truly masculine AND truly feminine voice. This is just fairly impossible for one narrator.

a disappointing shame
Revisado: 04-06-22
I like this author. Typically.
Bringing your wife with you to battle when she wishes to assist in some way would be acceptable. However, it was painful to hear a warrior agreeing to allow a wife to merely "watch" a battle so she could tell grandchildren she'd seen it. It was even more painful to hear the wife is grabbing a husband's arm to stop him from killing an enemy who'd murdered multiple people and could never be trusted. After that, throughout the entire following scenario I just felt like rolling my eyes. "I knew you'd come..." can be a very powerful statement when a lady in distress isn't suffering from a self-induced life- threatening situation that puts others at risk I'm writing this as the last 30 minutes drone on, because the hero and heroine making such a grave error was too much for me.

Historia
No one would suspect prim, proper Prudence Etchingham of lusting after her best friend's brother. Nor would anyone guess that she's responsible for dozens of the best forgeries in London's antiquities markets. But if her love for Alex is doomed to fail, she must raise enough money to escape the marriage mart. She just needs one last daring forgery to set herself up for life....

Forgery? Really?!
Revisado: 02-21-22
Prudence's situation did not by any stretch of imagination excuse committing forgery. Committing forgery turns a person into a despicable combination of liar and thief, robbing people of legitimate history. How can I even attempt to like a character who is willingly making their money this way? Doesn't this author expect us all to respect the copyright warnings at the end of every story?
The legitimacy of our history deserves better than that, and fans of historical novels, in particular, should respect the preservation of history enough to get this.
Someone who forges antique works of art without a gun to their head doesn't qualify as a heroine in a historical romance.
I'm baffled this must be said.
Sincerely, a lover of history and a visual artist who wishes a pox on anyone who attempts to forge another artist's work.
Sadly, for me personally, this ridiculousness brings an abrupt end to a series I'd otherwise been enjoying.

Historia
Is Number 67 Clarges Steet the unluckiest house in Mayfair? Every season the beau mondes of the Regency would hire a house in the heart of London’s fashionable West End at disproportionately high rent for often inferior accommodation and yet Number 67 Clarges Street, a town house complete with staff, remains vacant from year to year. Could it be that it is associated with ill luck and even death? Something must be done so that the servants of this house don’t lose their livelihood.

Would recommend
Revisado: 02-10-22
I feel this is one of M.C.'s better stories (of the ones I've read thus far). I'm hoping the rest of the series proves just as fruitful. In the historic romance category, only Mary Balogh has maintained my full attention even to the final story in any series beyond three books. However, I do like M.C.'s writing style enough that recently when I'm specifically searching for books included with membership, I'm putting this author's name in first. As for the narrator, I wouldn't rate her as my favorite, but I felt she did a more than adequate job. So far the only intolerable narrators have been males who cannot come close to passable when attempting the feminine voices.
