A wonderful twist on a classic

This was a delightful play on Jane Austen’s classic novel. With so many other reimaginings already out there this interpretation does a good job of standing out among them, keeping true enough to the original narrative while still making it a believable reflection of modern society.

Fell flat

It really missed the mark for me. The characters were flat, the relationship was shallow, and in general it was a boring piece of fluff fiction. Additionally can we please stop writing love interests who bend over backwards to accommodate the main character's every single whim but who still have to crawl pleading for forgiveness at the most minor of sins? It's lazy writing and readers deserve better characters.

I love a good RomCom but this was every chiche amplified which on the end proved to be too much. I struggled to like the characters and to understand their chemistry, also how their relationship became so serious so quick (living together after 3 dates???) and what exactly kept them together. Marcus was especially hard to find attractive when he seemed to be always apologizing for everything he said and did and begging for forgiveness to be worthy of April's love. In the end this was overly indulgent fanfiction that reminded me of the simpering ballads I was guilty of writing when I was 12. Was really excited to see the curvy girls being represented in modern romance so I was extremely disappointed when this fell so flat
