Moving and Well Written
Revisado: 02-20-25
A very good book. Hard to read at times as both the author and her mother had some absolutely horrible parts of their lives. But a very worthwhile read. Well narrated too.

Historia
The only life Tress has known on her island home in an emerald-green ocean has been a simple one, with the simple pleasures of collecting cups brought by sailors from faraway lands and listening to stories told by her friend Charlie. But when his father takes him on a voyage to find a bride and disaster strikes, Tress must stow away on a ship and seek the Sorceress of the deadly Midnight Sea. Amid the spore oceans where pirates abound, can Tress leave her simple life behind and make her own place sailing a sea where a single drop of water can mean instant death?

Excellent
Revisado: 05-21-24
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It's nice having a book with multiple 3 dimensional, strong female characters. Though Sanderson isn't guilty of this, so many authors only have token female characters, even ones that are supposed to be main characters aren't really filled out or interesting. It was an interesting story with a very different world. Wish it had been longer since I really like long books, but even at it's length it was complete and enjoyable. And the narration was perfect.

Tis a Lovely Book
Revisado: 09-21-23
I hadn't read this since it came out in paperback many years ago. I absolutely loved it then. I wondered if now after many years and changes in taste (I very rarely listen/read the romance genre anymore), if I would still like it. And I loved it still. It's a unique, well researched, well written, and perfectly narrated book.

Short but good stuff
Revisado: 01-04-23
I ordered this one on accident, I meant to skip it since it is too short, but somehow got it instead of book 5. When I saw only 5 hours of content I assumed book 5 had broken it into sections. I never paid attention that it was the wrong title. That said, I really did enjoy the book. If I had endless credits I'd get it no problem. As is, I think it should have been added to another title to make a longer book.

Interesting podcast
Revisado: 12-16-22
Good intro to what the rest of the episodes are going to be about. It got me interested in continuing to listen to the podcast. I'm about 3 episodes in and still interested. The performance is good. I usually don't like music or sound effects in books, but in this series I haven't found it to be distracting. One sound effect did embarrassingly make me spin and block. I was in the kitchen, wearing headphones and it sounded like something was falling down behind me. Otherwise, good read.

Now in The Wise Man’s Fear, Day Two of The Kingkiller Chronicle, Kvothe takes his first steps on the path of the hero and learns how difficult life can be when a man becomes a legend in his own time.

Awesome book
Revisado: 08-25-22
Somewhat painful at the end to not have a book 3 to go to. But I knew that when I decided to read book 1 and 2 again for the 3rd or 4th time. Such a beautifully written series. No doubt I'll read it again sometime. Some books get weaker after the first book, this one does not. Book 2 is just as incredible as book 1. Highly recommended.

Beautiful book
Revisado: 08-17-22
Do I wish the author would finish book 3? Of course. Do I have any regrets about reading the ones he has written? Oh definitely not! This is a beautifully written book, somewhat poetic. A very interesting world with characters you care about. I've listened to books 1 & 2 several times (and read the novela as a paperback, on a plane). They are in my top 5 favorite books of all time. I very highly recommend them.

Historia
Late one June night in 2011, a large animal collided with an SUV cruising down a Connecticut parkway. The creature appeared as something out of New England's forgotten past. Beside the road lay a 140-pound mountain lion. Speculations ran wild, the wildest of which figured him a ghostly survivor from a bygone century when lions last roamed the eastern United States. But a more fantastic scenario of facts soon unfolded.

Good Book
Revisado: 06-21-22
Overall a good book. Though as a soft hearted cat lover it was somewhat hard to listen to. So so many lions ended up shot. As a California native who no longer lives there, this book certainly made me look fondly at my old home. I love that CA lives basically harmoniously with the lions. An example the rest of the states could pay attention to. The book is worth listening to, the main lion's DNA documented journey across much of the US is amazing.

In 1985, Anthony Ray Hinton was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder in Alabama. Stunned, confused, and only 29 years old, Hinton knew that it was a case of mistaken identity and believed that the truth would prove his innocence and ultimately set him free. But with an incompetent defense attorney and a different system of justice for a poor black man in the South, Hinton was sentenced to death by electrocution. He spent his first three years on Death Row at Holman State Prison in despairing silence.
