Historia
The bustling city-state of Marchen borders the seats of the Three Queens, represented by the spindle, the slipper and the apple. But it’s been a hundred years since the rule of the Three Queens. The time of the godmothers has passed. If you want access to magic you either have to be one of the few who are born with it and live in hiding. Or extremely wealthy. Samara Dawa is a former assassin, stolen from her family and sold to the assassin’s guild when she was a child. When the opportunity to destroy the man who sold her comes up, she doesn’t hesitate.

Intriguing story that kept me locked in!
Revisado: 03-14-25
I adore fantasy and mystery and this has a little bit of both masterfully woven together. Well written and beautifully performed by Shiromi Arserio. We get a look into many characters point of view as the story goes on which adds lovely elements seeing the scenes from the character's eyes which makes me care a lot more for them and what they are going for and aiming to achieve. I love the commentary on humanity and seeing people for the souls that they are and not to be objects for other people's profit and the story brings clever ways that Samara and her crew work together to right a lot of wrongs, find themselves, work through disappointing relationships and so much more! I hope there's a book two!!

Any additional comments?
As a working actor, who continuously goes through the feast and famine that this industry offers, the internal and emotional struggles that is inevitable to go through during this perpetual hustle, Leslie Odom Jr.'s book really hits home and speaks to my inner self and has helped center me, inspire me, allow me to accept the decisions I've made or am making and pushed me to keep learning, to say No when needed without remorse and never to be afraid to fail. Well done and thank you.

Magnificent adventure in to an old favorite
Revisado: 06-07-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
When I think about classics stories like "The Secret Garden", I'm reminded of my childhood and how reading these books when I was young made me feel, how they captivated my imagination and how I envisioned the world and characters in my head. "The Secret Garden" is very precious to me as I loved it dearly as a child and I honestly was nervous upon first getting this audiobook. Would it live up to my childhood expectations? Would the narrator really be able to get inside the characters and breathe life into them so wholly that I could see them in my mind's eye without distraction?
The answer is yes to all. Pearl Hewitt's narration was simply superb. Honestly, there isn't one thing bad I can say about it. It's obvious she's a true Brit and her Yorkshire accent was so charming. Her narration was softly narrated like a Mary Poppins telling me a bedtime story with such grace and care for the story and the characters but also not afraid to inflect emotion and excitement when warranted. My favorite thing about Pearl's narration though was how she truly captured Mary, Mary, quite contrary! Such a curious child, so petulant at first, but the narrator is able to capture Mary's growth as she discovers there is more to this boring house than she once thought and more to herself than she once knew. That the garden and others she has met is filled with secrets.
The audio quality was very good and I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who would listen. I would not be surprised if I listened to it again.

Halfway Dead is Dead ON!
Revisado: 08-14-15
What made the experience of listening to Halfway Dead the most enjoyable?
The narrator really matched the author's whimsy and snark in her performance which kept me interested. I feel that the main character, Carly was well personified by the narrator and the level of believably kept me tuned in until the end. A perfect marriage of a strong story and a strong narrator.
What about Erin Spencer’s performance did you like?
Her tone, delivery and performance reminded me a lot of one of my favorite narrators, Julia Whelan however, Erin stood out on her own, showcasing her very apparent talent. She had a really great charm to her read and her voice is just lovely to listen to.

Interesting take on Zombies!!
Revisado: 08-14-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Cattle to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, but in a market flooded with zombie books, I thought this one stood out. I was intrigued by how the author gave the zombies levels of intellect which upped the stakes.
Have you listened to any of Ian M. Walker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first audiobook by Ian M. Walker and he did very well. He is extremely listenable and I love the gravely tone to his voice. His pacing was really nice and held my attention and I will definitely listen to more books read by him.

Suspenseful and sucked me in
Revisado: 05-11-15
Raveled is actually a book I read a couple years ago but forgot all about it. Not because it wasn't good, because it's a compelling read, but because I read so much that it must have just been buried in my memory banks.
Listening to the audiobook was a nice way to become reacquainted with a great book but in a new way. As I was listening, the story was coming back to me but listening to Rebecca Roberts' smooth narration made it so fresh and enjoyable that I happily continued til the end. The narration is subtle but poignant and kept me enthralled with the story. Rebecca Roberts voice is SO listenable!

Another Triumph for Fontainne and Morsey
Revisado: 01-29-15
What did you love best about Empty Shell?
The story is so emotionally charged and driven and moved me to the core. The tragedy that Melody endures and how she gets through it is incredible. And Fontainne continues to keep me guessing with her twists and turns. Just when I think I've figured things out, I'm turned upside down on my head in the most enjoyable way. I appreciate her fearlessness in bringing such a strong and positive Godly message within this story in a way that I think we can all relate to. The struggles, pain and feelings of worthlessness and the ability to find strength within the Lord to persevere and survive...all something that we go through and allowed me to dive deeper into Melody's plight and become emotionally involved.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Melody. She's so shattered, so many layers and yet very strong.
Have you listened to any of Sara Morsey’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have enjoyed Sara's performances before in another of Ashley Fontainne's books and have found them to be a solid combination of strong narration and emotionally driven story that goes hand in hand. Sara masters the subtly of Ashley's characters that make them easy to relate to, believable and like-able. She really pulls you into the story with her performance in such a way that isn't distracting but still riveting enough to make me want to only concentrate on her storytelling.

Landed on Excellence
Revisado: 12-05-14
What did you love best about Landed on Black?
There was a lot of interesting and "omg-that really happened?" situations in there at was riveting but Zach Fortier's humor really held me along as I continued to listen to this book. Marc Vazquez really captured the dry, witty humor that I believe Zach was going for and it made the entire audiobook really fun to enjoy.
What does Marc. Vazquez bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Marc Vazquez, besides having a really strong voice, drew me in to Zach Fortier's reality. I felt like I was enjoying a "ride along" with him as he wove his tales from the street and his experiences as a cop. There was a believably in Marc's subtle performance that added a nice nuance and carried the humor through; especially since much of the content was dealing with this cop's experiences with the dregs of society and how he dealt with himself.

I felt that this story came alive as I listened and I was compelled to keep listening! The narrator, Paul Licameli was extremely connected to the story and helped to distinguish the characters well so I could follow who was speaking. His approach to the humor and the angst of the protagonist was spot on! The author's great story was complimented perfectly with the narration!
