Historia
Gun Island is a beautifully realised novel which effortlessly spans space and time. It is the story of a world on the brink, of increasing displacement and unstoppable transition. But it is also a story of hope, of a man whose faith in the world and the future is restored by two remarkable women.

His connection to the water infects every reader
Revisado: 02-21-23
As a fan of Amitav Ghosh I had a sense that it was some sort of first person narrative. Despite that, his commitment to Bengal, Sunderban, and the Bengali culture will make you fall in love with it too. And maybe, with this one, even make you a climate activist!

Historia
The history of the nutmeg is one of conquest and exploitation - of both human life and the natural environment - and the origin of our contemporary climate crisis. Tracing the threats to our future to the discovery of the New World and the sea route to the Indian Ocean, The Nutmeg's Curse argues that the dynamics of climate change are rooted in a centuries-old geopolitical order constructed by Western colonialism. The story of the nutmeg becomes a parable revealing the ways human history has always been entangled with earthly materials.

A must read for decolonization, anti racism, and environmental activists

It was not what I expected when I started but after long, it was a book I could not “put down”. Every page is researched and woven into tales in ways only Amitav can.

Historia
Long before Suzanne Collins created Katniss Everdeen and Octavia Butler wrote Parable of the Sower, there were many traditional folktales full of adventure, intrigue, and intrepid female characters. Feminist Folktales from Around the World collects these forgotten classics. Enjoy this collection of all four volumes - Tatterhood, Kamala, Sea Girl, and The Hunter Maiden.

Loved the narrator.
Loved the project.
But above all else loved this collection of stories. How I wish I was raised on these tales.
