Historia
On a flight from London to Boston, Ted Severson meets the stunning and mysterious Lily Kintner. Sharing one too many martinis, the strangers begin to play a game of truth, revealing intimate details about themselves. Ted talks about his marriage that’s going stale and his wife, Miranda, who he’s sure is cheating on him. Ted and his wife were a mismatch from the start - he the rich businessman, she the artistic free spirit - a contrast that once inflamed their passion but has now become a cliché. But their game turns a little darker when Ted jokes that he could kill Miranda....

Truly Loved This Book!
Revisado: 04-24-25
I absolutely loved this book, as much as I loved Gone Girl. It has the same intensity and plot twists and is a bit more user friendly with respect to it being, I would say, more PG-13 than R rated like Gone Girl. Best murder mystery I’ve read in a long time.

Disappointed In This One
Revisado: 01-21-25
I have enjoyed the other Housemaid books, and Freida’s other books. This one was painfully boring and irritating until the last 4 hours. There was a whole lot of nothing going on for the first 6 hours or so, and Millie was extremely irritating during that time. I suffered through and it ended with a little excitement, but it was a hard one to get through.

NOT About Kris Kristofferson!
Revisado: 01-13-24
This is a collection of interviews with Jim Morrison of The Doors. It has not one thing to do with Kris Kristofferson, other than his narration of the story. I am a Doors fan and the interviews are a great historical experience. Also there are interviews with people who knew Jim. I enjoyed it, but had I been a strict country music fan only, I would have been miffed that I bought it.

Kristofferson composed his own songs and collaborated with Nashville songwriters such as Shel Silverstein. In 1985, Kristofferson joined fellow country artists Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Johnny Cash in forming the country music supergroup The Highwaymen, and formed a key creative force in the outlaw country music movement that eschewed the Nashville music machine in favor of independent songwriting and producing. In 2004, Kristofferson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Not About Kris Kristofferson!
Revisado: 01-13-24
This book is about Janis Joplin, NOT Kris Kristofferson. It is narrated by Kris, as he tells us about Janis. I love both artists, so it was ok by me. I gave the performance 5 stars because Kris could be reading anything and it would be worth listening to! Certainly worth the few dollars I spent on it.

Historia
The 1990s were a chaotic and utterly magical time for music, a confounding barrage of genres and lifestyles and superstars, from grunge to hip-hop, from sumptuous R&B to rambunctious ska-punk, from Axl to Kurt to Missy to Santana to Tupac to Britney. In 60 SONGS THAT EXPLAIN THE '90s, Ringer music critic Rob Harvilla reimagines all the earwormy, iconic hits Gen Xers pine for with vivid historical storytelling, sharp critical analysis, rampant loopiness, and wryly personal ruminations on the most bizarre, joyous, and inescapable songs from a decade we both regret entirely and miss desperately.

My Personal View-Harvilla Rules!
Revisado: 11-18-23
First of all, ALL of my brothers should consume this book, but my parents should not; language is a consideration here. All of us were very much involved in 90’s music and culture, and despite this book not being genre specific, you will find yourself laughing, smiling, and remembering, whether Rob is talking about Brittany Spears, Tupac, Pearl Jam, or Pantera . The crazy thing is that music you didn’t even voluntarily listen to has still had an affect on your life.
This is not a musical history book. While Mr. Harvilla has an enormous amount of scholarly content in his mind, this is intended to be an entertaining trip down memory lane. It is made all the more delightful by his incredible vocabulary and writing style. Also, you will have a much better experience with this book if you consume the audio format because probably 25% or so of what makes this so endearing is Rob’s delivery of the material vocally.
So grab the audio book and enjoy the trip down memory lane…Whoomp! (There It Is).

Historia
Sean was a seventh-grade drop-out, a dishwasher then a construction worker to help his mother and sister scrape by, and a self-described "nobody with a sad story behind him." Yet he cannot deny the glimmers of life's goodness even amid its rough edges. Such goodness becomes even harder to deny when Sean meets the love of his life at a fried chicken church potluck, and harder still when his lifelong love of storytelling leads him to stages across the southeast, where he is known and loved as "Sean of the South."

Couldn’t Put It Down!
Revisado: 05-13-23
Absolutely loved this book. It is certainly a solid 4 star book, but I decided to go with 5 because I couldn’t put it down. I devoured it in one day. Despite the sadness of the general topic, it was a delightful story of overcoming and success and forgiveness. I also loved the depictions of Missouri, Florida, and Georgia as those are the 3 main places I’ve lived. Loved the talk about church socials too! Highly recommend this one.

As he settles into an uneasy retirement, Rebus has given up his favorite vices. There's just one habit he can't shake: He can't let go of an unsolved case. It's the only pastime he has left, and up until now it's the only one that wasn't threatening to kill him. Historia
Things I’ll Never Forget is the story of a young high school graduate in 1965 who faces being drafted into the Army or volunteering for the Marine Corps. These are his memories of funny times, disgusting times and deadly times. The author kept a journal for an entire year; therefore many of the dates, times and places are accurate. The rest is based on memories that are forever tattooed on his brain. This is not a pro-war book, nor is it anti-war. It is the true story of what the Marine Corps was like in the late 1960’s.

The Stuff You Wanted To Know
Revisado: 12-14-22
As a person who was born towards the end of the Vietnam War, I had no personal experience with it. I was always curious about the war, but no veterans I knew would ever really talk about it. I understand that as best I can having not been in combat. This book takes you through all the details of one soldier’s experience, from the boring to the exciting to the heartbreaking and painful. A great read.

A Downer
Revisado: 12-05-22
While I like Demi, and feel a connection to her because of the movies she made in the 80’s, and while I have compassion for her trials in life and don’t judge her, the book is a pretty big downer. There are flickers of the good life she (and everyone) deserves, but they are short. The debauchery of her life has continued well into her years where maturity and age should have taken over. My heart aches for her. She has improved on the generations before her, so maybe there’s a happy ending after all.
