I almost didn't buy this book...because of

a few bad reviews and how the hero won at everything and that the poor woman was so set upon by the hoards against her! BUT that is NOT how this story plays out. It again is a very wonderful unusual story and it definitely could happen in the time period! The heroin has her champions also and is able to fight her own battles very handily and in a witty way! Characters from the first book are very present in this book which keeps the wonderful friendships going and their good humor! Don't listen to the nay-sayers who have issues and give this book a try!
I AM SSSOOooo Happy I didn't pass this book by due to those reviews! I bought both the 1st and 2nd books at full price and I am glad to have done so!

Wonderful beginning to a fun series!

A very enjoyable listen, witty humor, wonderful friendships, a little misunderstandings but I can see how it would fit into this period in time! I would urge anyone who wants a story with an unusual story line to get this book!

Read like listening to a dictionary!

Seriously how can a person manage to fit so many 13 letter words of descriptions into ONE sentence or phrase. I felt like slamming my fist into my forehead or beating in on the table every time. I even stopped it once and let my 73yr old friend who also reads novels listen to the book drivel on and on then we both had a good laugh.
I wanted to find an example of the descriptive words piled together, but couldn't force myself to go back and search for them.
Again I can see how it is a classical novel but it is not my taste....!

I had a very hard time finishing this book. I didn't care for the narrators type of speech, the story took forever to go anywhere interesting!
I know everyone reviews how good Georgette Heyers books are, I guess they are just not for me. I did finish this one and started Arabella which to my is even worse and I couldn't finish it, I will review that one separately!

It was cute and funny, loving and understanding! Being from Northern MN myself and coming from a old logging family, I was really able to feel everything about this story and the characters lives!
Wonderful Author and I wish that Lauri would release more of her books with narration as that is the only way I have time for books anymore!

It seems that these stories move along without must of anything interesting happening! No lead up to whatever, no whatever happens after...just a fast moving story without much dialog between the characters or towards the final story line....! Very full of fluff and non-stuff happening!!

This is one of the best books I have listened to in almost a year and I listen to about 2-3 a week!
The characters in this book actually have conversations, there is little misunderstandings between the two of them (at least not the man made ones that leave you smashing you head in)!
There is an evil character but he doesn't take up much time and doesn't turn the whole last half of the book into fighting about him!
The feelings are real, they grow together in them and there is moderate sex scenes that are pleasant and sometimes funny.
The whole book has witty remarks and it is just a wonderfully written romance novel as I really don't like that SO MANY historical romance books have either so much war scenes or such that take away from the romance between the two main characters lives!
I read romance for romance...I am not a man who loves to read about battles, evil-evil villains doing bad things constantly, I really wish more authors would write in this style! Bravo Vicky and Priscilla it was outstanding!

I read the other reviews before getting this book. Some of them almost made me not get it! I do not write many reviews but the ones bashing this story and sequence of events are making me feel like I have to write one.
This is a wonderfully told story, as usual the couple are in love with each other (secretly of course - lack of communication) but they are over the top in lust with each other, mutually attracted to each other in a very heady sexual attraction, which is a very good thing if you have ever had it in your own real life!!!
I felt the author and the narrator created many beautiful/sexy and sensual love making scenes. You can actually feel the attraction between these two as it is so powerfully written!
Little Spoiler: This story takes place like in 850AD So yeah, people's views were a little bit different then those of today and what women could endure. Other reviewers thought the speed and position of the loving making unreasonable, but so would being beaten near to death and yet the heroine survived that....I would rather have a handsome man making wild passionate love to me!! LOL
So if you are not a prude...give this book a try as I am off to find another one by this same author as her story was WONDERFULLY TOLD!!

What ever Audible has done....

With how they work between Audible and Amazon downloads of audible books has screwed up how they refresh and download to my devices. The last three book downloads have been a pain in my butt to listen to! I have downloaded and listened to 100+ books and all of a sudden they will not download to my 3 devices!
