Lawrence Wright's remarkable book is based on five years of research and hundreds of interviews that he conducted in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sudan, England, France, Germany, Spain, and the United States.

Probably a Better Read Than Listen
Revisado: 07-07-18
Had a hard time finishing this. The history is very hard to follow, I think I would have enjoyed reading this book more than listening to it.
Still, an interesting subject that is well narrated. I recommend it for history buffs.

By combing through the journals that Hannah has kept for much of her life, this collection of narrative essays delivers a fuller picture of her life, her experiences, and the things she's figured out about family, faith, love, sexuality, self-worth, friendship, and fame. Revealing what makes Hannah tick, this sometimes cringeworthy, poignant collection of stories is sure to deliver plenty of Hannah's wit and wisdom - and hopefully encourage you to try your hand at her patented brand of reckless optimism.

Excellent Memoir, Recommend to Everyone
Revisado: 03-17-17
I LOVED this book. Hannah Hart had an incredible childhood, and hers is a story worth listening to. I knew the mental health care system in the US was broken, but I've never heard such a clear illustration of how and why. I'm reccomending this to everyone.

They were called a generation without heroes. Then they were called upon to be heroes. Within hours of 9/11, America's war on terrorism fell to those like the 23 Marines of the First Recon Battalion, the first generation dispatched into open-ended combat since Vietnam.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. A very interesting perspective on the invasion, the Marines, and war in general. Must read for Infantrymen.

Historia
When Rupert Murdoch enlisted Roger Ailes to launch a cable news network in 1996, American politics and media changed forever. With a remarkable level of detail and insight, Vanity Fair magazine reporter Gabriel Sherman puts Ailes’s unique genius on display, along with the outsize personalities - Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelly, Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, Glenn Beck, Mike Huckabee, Gretchen Carlson, Bill Shine, and others - who have helped Fox News play a defining role in the great social and political controversies of the past two decades.

Good Journalism, but Couldn't Get Into It
Revisado: 12-31-16
Bought this audiobook because the scandal of Ailes's resignation from Fox News caught my interest, but in the end, this wasn't my kind of book. Would still reccomend it for people interested in the media or politics.

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

Enjoyed; not for Mormons or Fans of the Church
Revisado: 10-19-16
Thoroughly enjoyed the detailed history of the LDS Church, and it's parallels to the Lafferty Bros murders. Can seem disjointed, the way Kraukauer switched back and forth between the 1800s and the 80's, but makes interesting comparisons between historical events. The book comes off as vicously anti-Mormon though. Would have preferred a more fair and balanced tone.

Terrible follow up to Jurassic Park. Uninteresting characters, villians, action, and plot. Chrichton expresses some very ignorant unscientific sentiments as well. For die hard Chrichton fans only. Everyone else: skip it.

Historia
The first-ever inside look at the US military’s secretive Remotely Piloted Aircraft program - equal parts techno-thriller, historical account, and war memoir. Remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), commonly referred to by the media as drones, are a mysterious and headline-making tool in the military’s counterterrorism arsenal. Their story has been pieced together by technology reporters, major newspapers, and on-the-ground accounts from the Middle East, but it has never been fully told by an insider.

Learned alot about the Predator in particular and the Air Force in general from this book. I would've liked to hear the authors' thoughts on the concerns of collateral damage caused by Hellfire strikes though.

Weak Story, Confusing Narration
Revisado: 06-06-16
I've been working through all of Tom Clancy's novels, and I found this one kind of weak. The idea of The Campus is interesting, and the introduction to Jack Ryan Jr and the Caruso brothers was good, but the story was not very exciting. The antagonists were stereotypical Islamists, nothing more. And last, the narration was confusing, because there's no difference between alot of the characters' voices. There were several instances where I couldn't follow who said what in a conversation, especially when it was between the twin brothers. This novel has convinced me to take a break from Clancy, and I hope the next one raises the bar. I can only reccomend this one to die hard Clancy fans.

I had trouble getting into this Clancy novel at first. The plot is slow to get going. I had to restart it once. But after the titular character is introduced, and the espionage begins, this novel becomes hard to put down. Not my favorite Clancy novel, but definitely worth a listen.
