Had potential but fell flat
Revisado: 04-22-25
Lame story. The story premise had potential, but was not interesting enough to keep me intrigued. I kept waiting for some bigger conflict or drama, but nothing happened.

Historia
Michael Steeb is an aimless 21-year-old pot farmer in Central California in the 1980s. He has no real plans or interests...until the day he connects with memories of a life that seems to belong to someone else. That "spirit" is Walter, a young American soldier killed in World War II. Michael's task is the near-impossible: to lead Walter's family to closure and peace, to deliver the real truth behind Walter's Purple Heart, and to somehow achieve the forgiveness absent for so many years so Walter can move on.

Nice idea but fell very flat!
Revisado: 02-19-24
The story had potential but was actually very meandering without much of a point. I listened to the whole book hoping there would be some more profound message, but I was sorely disappointed.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Nora Harmon has a lot to be thankful for: two great kids, a stable marriage, and now, a dream career. Software consultant Jane Bell wants Nora on her team. She’s offering a fantastic salary, flexible hours, and a chance to travel the world. It sounds too good to be true, but Jane won’t take no for an answer. Jane acts more like a friend than a boss, and Nora’s personal and professional boundaries begin to blur. Jane is smitten with Nora’s perfect family—particularly her daughter—and far too attentive to Nora’s husband. Nora can’t help but feel insecure and unsettled.

Overall entertaining
Revisado: 01-26-23
The story was entertaining, even if the protagonist annoyingly kept letting the villain manipulate her after so many red flags. The narrator really stank, though. She forced her words out and emphasized the wrong syllables, changing the true intended feeling of much of the dialogue.

Historia
Novelists Jonathan Moss and Sage Merriweather should be a perfect match. They share not only the same publisher but also a deep friendship full of mutual respect and encouragement. But when an ill-fated attempt at taking their relationship to the next level fails in spectacular fashion, it appears as though that once-treasured bond is doomed for good. One year later, however, the duo gets a chance to salvage their relationship when Jonathan invites Sage on a do-over road trip from Phoenix to Tacoma.

Snooze fest
Revisado: 10-05-22
This book was mind-numbingly boring. The female protagonist was so out of touch with herself through most of the book, it was frustrating and obnoxious. The narrator’s loud voice and along Island accent were difficult to bear.

Maddeningly boring
Revisado: 08-19-22
Not only was this book extremely boring, but it was also narrated way too slowly and without much expression. The protagonist was so annoyingly spineless! I mean, how long does it take someone to stand up for herself! Ugh!

So bad!
Revisado: 06-07-22
This story was all over the place and completely stupid. So many flaws and characters doing the opposite of what normal people would do. The narration was awful, especially the main character. It made me cringe to hear what sounded like a mouth full of peanut butter.

Revisado: 05-24-22

Had potential but didn’t flow well
Revisado: 03-01-22
I found this book fell quite short of what it could have been. The slow pace and constant flipping back and forth in time detracted from the intrigue and excitement of the storyline. Additionally the characters were underdeveloped.
