Funny, witty and plenty of plot twists to keep your attention. Gaimen is the perfect narrator for this, but the other voice actors are also very good. It’s a great whimsical story with the happy ending we all want.

sci-fi/fantasy with a touch of philosophy

This story is a wild mix of fantasy and sci-fi. I enjoyed the ad like sections, which are very funny, but the idea that will stick with me is that we can get into such a mind set we can sabotage our own success. It’s so true, and yet can be impossible of us to see.
This character was fascinating, and I’d love to hear more of his adventures.

Well formed characters you can invest in. A plot that’s twisty enough to keep you interested throughout and frightfully delightful descriptions. It’s a fantastic ride, people. Strap in.

Memorable characters

I like that the premise for this apocalypse doesn’t involve zombies and seems more plausible. The characters are in some cases complicated, and in some cases psychotic, but in all cases they feel like real people. Over the course of the series you begin to have favorites and root for this guy to get shot right in the face…and this other one to have a happily ever after… and then the author drops the ball and doesn’t give it a proper end. Sooo frustrating! Maybe for that reason it doesn’t feel like the last book so I am hoping we get to visit Mercy CO again.

A fast and fun ride through new sci-fi territory

This story is not about the Kaiju, it’s about the lovable, witty nerds that “preserve” them. His characters feel real and relatable, and the modern setting adds to that immensely. There’s enough science here for things to make a kind of sense, but it’s the fiction aspects that are most intriguing. Also, will Wheaton may not have a huge repertoire of voices and character accents, but his delivery of Scalzi’s quips, and sarcastic dialogue is perfect! He’s a great straight forward, enthusiastic narrator and I like his style.

This story gives a glimpse into the solid feelings we often have when our lives change abruptly. Is it for the better or worse? Who knows, it is what it is… don’t skip the interview with the charming author after the story. You’re welcome.

Utterly forgettable

I finished this 2 days ago, but I'm hard pressed to remember a single characters name. All I DO recall is is that the narrator's voice wasn't distinguishable from one to3o another character, and it DID help me get to sleep quickly.
