Loved most of it but the end ruined it for me

This story kept me on the edge of my seat, which is why it made me very disappointed in the ending. It really ruined the book/s for me. I loved the characters and their development. For the last third of the book the characters face a lot of hard times and sadness. (I actually skipped over 5 chapters to not feel so sad for them.) The ending really needed to bring an uplifting finish. It was barely there and the story was over. Would I read it again? No, it left me feeling bereft because all of the struggles didn't balance out with a barely there happy ending.
