Great message for children and engaging book for adults
Revisado: 04-17-24
I loved the message that a child need not feel guilty about their parents’ decisions and that children are themselves, unique and special, not just a reflection of one parent.
The book was well-written and beautifully presented, with musical illustrations.
I highly recommend this book for children and adults alike.

Lovely story for adults as well as children
Revisado: 04-15-24
The story was engaging and relatable. As a musician, I appreciated the music intertwined with the story. I also remembered my own awkward and painful experiences attending a new school as a 7th grade student. Overall a story that is entertaining with a great message for children experiencing the challenges of being “tweens” and a good reminder for adults as well. I highly recommend this book for both children and adults.

The Devolution of Medicine
Revisado: 01-07-24
These stories recall the days of medicine included the treatment of patients as well as their doctors, nurses, and others who cared for them as humans with feelings, fears, and the whole range of personalities. Further illustrated is the current state of medicine where third party payers and the government have come between patients and those who care for them. Medicine has also become a ruthless corporate power, all but erasing the small community hospitals and private clinics.
The question posed is, which is better? The answer does not matter much, as the practice of medicine is unlikely to return to a practice of caring for those in need rather than the practice of treating the "bottom line" of insurance companies, medical corporations, and their shareholders.
This is an excellent book with engaging stories of real people in the world of medicine. Much better than any tv show drama could ever be. Listen. You will be both educated and entertained, but never bored.

Surprise ending
Revisado: 01-05-24
I can usually predict "whodunit" well before a story comes to an end, but this one surprised me.
I didn’t mind the supernatural element. It added just the right amount to this story. Well worth a listen.

Don’t waste your time
Revisado: 12-28-23
This was a hack job of old fashioned stories retold.
Spoiler alert:
It was obvious from the beginning that the brothers had to be twins.
And that one would end up dead.
Mythology reworked.
Twins separated at birth-one rich, one poor.
Rags to riches story woven in as a backdrop.
Meh.
I’m sorry I spent my time on this junk, even though I was unable to do anything else. Lying in silence would have suited me better, but others kept turning on audible and walking away.
No, I did not choose this story. Someone else did that.
I want to scrub my brain clean after listening to this rubbish.

Tense, Real
Revisado: 08-29-23
Don’t listen to this before bedtime. This is a tense story, believably delivered by all the performers. The sound effects were a great addition. James Patterson never disappoints, but I wondered how he would do with a short story. This was every bit as good as any of his novels. This is a great list although perhaps it should come with a trigger warning for rape victims.

This Psych 312 assignment just might send me off the deep end. Determining whether love at first sight really exists with Robbie Moravian as my project partner of all people? He’s the sappiest man alive, so upbeat I could scream, and clearly rooting for happy endings at every turn. How does he not learn from experience considering our own meet-cute last semester almost got us expelled? But we both need to pass this course to graduate. So we’re interviewing five random couples about their meet-cutes and relationships and spending all this time together. Which is certainly...educational.

What’s to like about this audio book? Ummm… The main male voice was nice and mellow. I’m sorry I wasted my time on this when I could have listened to something entertaining, educational or even mediocre. I’d have changed books if I were able to do so without assistance.

This was a well-written and well-performed sequel to The Blight Way. While not revealing the origin of crop circles, this book does reveal the origin of circles in the snow without footprints leading to or away. It also reveals more of the Blight Way as Sheriff Bo Tully along with his daddy, Pap, and his crime scene unit with the support of Daisy the secretary all work together to solve a mysterious crime while handling with a few other legal issues along the way.

That Bear Ate My Pants! is the hilarious tale of one man's quest to better himself. Whether losing a machete fight with a tree, picking dead tarantulas out of a tank of live ones, or sewing the head back onto a partially decapitated crocodile, Tony's misadventures are ridiculous, unbelievable, and always entertaining.

Laughter is the best medicine
Revisado: 05-23-23
I read this whilst in great pain. The book and narration were engaging enough to transport me from my bed to an underfunded Ecuadorian animal preserve, wherein the experiences of a British, non-Spanish-speaking volunteer unfolded with mishaps galore. Mostly hilarious, with a few tender and a few serious moments mixed in, this is great. Give it a listen.
