First I saw the movie

...and then I listened to the book. Absolutely the listening was better because the details were mind boggling many times. The Osage murders are haunting and sad. My heart goes out to all American Indian tribes.

Heartbreaking

I was not a “Friends” fan and never understood the dynamics the show presented. My own life was complicated raising children, single parent, two jobs and no family support. Fast forward: three decades latter, children grown, life is easier, Audible listener and Mathew Perry passes. I am intrigued about this man who has passed due to, according to most, was a habitual alcohol and drug user and a very loved character in the TV program many adored.

Matthew’s story is heartbreaking. He never stood a chance and like so many other addicts, his actor persona was one but his personal struggles were his dichotomy. Now I am ready to watch “Friends” and contemplate how such a tortured soul could be the actor and comedian he brought to the show.

If you do not know or understand the desease of addiction and you identify the man with his character, his story will not make sense because his character was of a man living an alcohol and drug free life. This was Mathew’s glimpse into a drug free existence, one which he did not own and maybe truly wanted but could not obtain.

Mathew, rest in peace.

Courageous work, well written and educational

I have listened to all of John Douglas and Mark Olshaker’s books here on Audible and the worst part is when I realize the end is approaching. Some cases are referred to in different books but it is because of the relevance to the topic at hand. Worth while listening!

Imani Perry’s narration about her journey touched so many questions I have asked myself and brought up many other reflections I have pondered on about sickness, getting a terminal illness and living life searching for health while living in pain. I saw friends and family, who’s lives have been challenged, learned to be more emphatic towards them and also, came to terms with my own physical situations I have and will deal with for the rest of my life. Ms. Perry, thank for your exquisitely told story.

The tittle was interesting but the story is beautiful. I expected another ending that I really wanted but I am not the author. Lovely characters. I will listen to the story at some point.

This is for us, the older adult!
