Historia
Wounded while retaking the Armory, Talon's recovery is slow and painful. Unaware that his family in Texas are having to deal with similar situations from within their own community. With still no action or assistance from the Federal or State governments, each community must deal with daily shortages of their basic needs. Civilization and civility have been replaced with every person for themselves. Lawlessness and chaos are the new normal. Large population centers have for the most part become unsustainable.

Slow pace/poorediting
Revisado: 08-15-24
I actually like the premise of the story. However the way in which it is written makes me want to have the ability to go in and edit words/phrases to make it sound better. I consume 99% of my books through audio. So I am accustomed to works published by major houses with personnel there to help improve the authors’ works. It seems this author is self published, so kudos to him for that. However I wish he had access to someone to give some constructive feedback. Like I said I do enjoy the premise of the story. I would like to see it I would just like to see an improvement in the fluidity of the narrative.

Like the story
Revisado: 07-27-23
The fact that this series actually made it to publication makes me wonder. I don’t know who edits these books but whomever it is needs to listen to them. The author’s non use of synonyms is blatant when you’re listening. Often repeating the same word or phrase in one sentence makes me think the narrator is accidentally repeating himself.
I enjoy the genre and am willing to let the author’s shortcomings go. The story itself is solid. I just hope we don’t have to wait another three years for the next one.

In 1980, a freshman congressman was gunned down in Rhode Island, sending shockwaves through Washington that are still reverberating over four decades later. Now, with the world on the brink of war and a weakened United States facing rampant inflation, political division, and shocking assassinations, a secret cabal of global elites is ready to assume control. And with the world’s most dangerous man locked in solitary confinement, the conspirators believe the final obstacle to complete domination has been eliminated. They’re wrong.

Gets better with every installment
Revisado: 05-19-22
I don’t remember how I became aware of Jack Carr but I’m so glad I did. Ray Porter is a master at his craft.
I preordered this book and waited and watched YouTube and listened to podcasts in which Jack was involved. All to ease my anxiety and satiate my desire for this book to be released. Or should I say unleashed? The only problem with this book is that it had to end. Now I have to wait another year for the next one.
Mr. Carr I sincerely wish you the best! Thank you for investing your time and talents to create works of entertainment. I consider it time well spent. So mission accomplished commander. Thank you.

Educate the narrators
Revisado: 09-18-21
Brad Taylor is a former operator in the military so I would hope his knowledge and description of the events portrayed in his works are properly expressed by the narrators.
Sometimes what appears on the page could be misconstrued or mispronounced. Especially when it comes to firearms and their names.
For instance in this particular book the narrator kept saying “ump” when describing the weapon that was in use. It’s not pronounced that way! I’m assuming it was written as UMP which when pertaining to firearms and ammunition the letters are said individually “U” “M” “P”.
Please educate the narrators, directors, and everyone involved with the production of these types of works so that the consumers are able to glean exactly what the authors intended without confusion or frustration.

A former Delta Force commander, Brad Taylor proves with this breathtaking debut thriller that Vince Flynn and Brad Thor have company. A collection of top operatives, the Taskforce was commissioned by the highest levels of government, kept secret from the media and even Congress. The best of the Taskforce bunch, Pike Logan knows the greatest threat to American security is one or two idealogues. Unfortunately for them, they’ve just crossed Pike’s path.

Cartoon narration
Revisado: 09-03-21
I have a hard time listening to a serious story when the characters are portrayed in a cartoonistic fashion.
Each narrator is good for one character each, but they have no range. Beyond their normal speaking voice it’s like your listening to a Saturday morning cartoon.
Other than that the story is exciting and interesting.

Meh
Revisado: 08-18-21
Maybe I’m just tired of the genre, but this one was hard to keep listening.
I have a few criticisms as well. First the author states that a character would “pump the trigger” and switch their weapon to “manual “. I realize I’m arguing the minutia but these are trained operators so they would squeeze the trigger or even press it not pump it. Also if the weapon is equipped with a dual stage trigger you would switch between semi auto or full auto or even 3 round burst not manual. I mean as long as you’re physically operating the weapon you’re doing it manually.
Lastly at one point in the story Andreas “rained steel down” on his adversary. Again I realize this is semantics but the projectiles fired from handguns or rifles are not made of steel, they may be steel jacketed but that wouldn’t be what’s actually being fired at the enemy. I’m confident the author knows this but it escapes me why he would word it in this fashion. I’ve become accustomed to former operators that have become authors and present these particular things using the correct vernacular.
The story really gets exciting during the last third. The preamble leading to the conclusion is blah. I preordered this book but feel like I should have tried to find a new title or series. I was excited for the continuation of Dewey’s storyline. I’m still a fan but not of this particular book.

Historia
When a mysterious new weapon tips the balance against American and allied forces throughout the Middle East, the only person the president can call for help is the man the administration has just fired - Navy SEAL turned covert Homeland Security operative, Scot Harvath. Caught live on Al Jazeera in an off-the-books operation, Harvath is forced to go to ground, as a senator with presidential aspirations turns her sights on the White House and forces President Jack Rutledge to publicly end the career of America's number-one counter-terrorism operative.

Don’t pay attention to negative reviews!
Revisado: 08-17-21
First off I’ll state that I’m a fan of George Guidall. Second I’ll admit that I’m late to the realm of Scott Harvath. I’m only familiar with Brad Thor because he’s mentioned in some of the other books that I’ve listened to.
In fact I would have to say that Scott Harvath is my least favorite of the protagonists I have in my collection. That said I still enjoyed this novel.
I’m writing this review on 8/17/2021. There’s some pretty scary stuff unfolding in the Middle East and the subject matter in this novel loosely coincides with current events.
The story is intriguing and entertaining and I pray that nothing like this ever comes to pass.
Definitely worth a credit!

Kind of like a soap opera
Revisado: 06-17-21
A HVT with a split personality? Really! And then the whole dream sequence with death is kind of like a soap opera. Swanson’s continued dreams of the shadowy figure of death and the narrator’s portrayal is laughable. I wish the author would contrive a different method for Swanson to deal with his taking of life. Other than that the story was good.

Story is good; Bad production engineering; or narration
Revisado: 05-23-21
I purchased this one even after reading all the negative reviews. I don’t regret it because it is a good story. However production quality is abysmal and the narrator has no range.I think he did do better than his reading of this book’s predecessor. I’m a fan of anything with the Tom Clancy moniker on it (mostly the video game aspect). I enjoyed the story overall. It’s just a shame production quality and narration were so poor.
