This book is very different than most of the others that I have listened to on Audible. I liked the concept of the story and how it was set up - a shorter "prequel" to introduce the characters and provide a background/explanation of key events, which led straight into the main story. The introduction and development of the characters was well done. The plot line was a little hard to follow, however, as it had several twists and many of the characters had unexpected connections. The main characters, Mark and Ashlyn, are very interesting and are well balanced with some of the others in the book. Carmen DeSousa did a great job with the story's mystery component - giving you just enough detail at the right times to keep you thinking and engaged in the story - but it would have helped me a little to have a few more things spelled out, even if it was at the end.

Michelle Babb did an excellent job with the character voices. There was a clear distinction between each character, so I always knew who was speaking. She also had great accents! Her voices and tone really draw you in and keep you engaged with the characters.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. I'd recommend it for longer rides or times where you are able to really pay attention to the plot line, otherwise you'll find yourself going back and listening to a few chapters again. Watch out for the twists - there are several that will sneak up even when you're trying to anticipate them. A fun, unique read!

As the title suggests, this is another great addition to a wonderful series by Linda Kozar. Lovita and Sue Jan can always be counted on for stumbling into the quirkiest, craziest predicaments! This story continues chronologically from the last book, but is written in a way where you wouldn't be lost if you hadn't read all of the previous books in the series. It is full of weird situations, drama (and not just from Sue Jan!), suspense, and intrigue. I loved listening to this story in the car; Michelle Babb does a fantastic job with all of the different accents for each of the characters. Her voices really bring the characters to life and complement the tone of the book perfectly. I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for light-hearted book with some mystery and a whole lot of humor mixed in.

What did you love best about Felony Fruitcake?

Felony Fruitcake is a nice addition to this series. I love the characters! Sue Jan is an over-the-top southern gal who isn't afraid to say what she thinks. It was a nice surprise to discover that this book was told from Sue Jan's perspective, and not Lovita's (like the last book). I thought that added a little something extra to the series to keep things interesting.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

To be honest, I predicted the ending pretty early in the story (maybe listening to all this sleuthing is rubbing off!) I had not predicted the motive, however; Linda Kozar did a good job developing that aspect of the story.

Have you listened to any of Michelle Babb’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several books that Michelle Babb has narrated, including the previous book in this series. As expected, her performance in this book was very similar to that in Dead as a Doornail. I think she does a great southern accent! Her character voices and the distinction between separate characters have improved throughout the last several books she's narrated, and I've enjoyed listening to her develop those subtleties that make the stories more enjoyable to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This book wasn't necessarily "moving," per say, but I did have to laugh when Sue Jan was talking about how the Christmas soiree was turning into a seniors' mixer (and detailing the "love triangle" that was unfolding).

Any additional comments?

This story was much shorter than the last - less than an hour and a half! It made for an easy listen over a few car rides, but could easily be done in a longer trip. With the much shorter time frame, the story could not be developed as much as one would expect for a full book, but it was a very fun short story. As I mentioned previously, I enjoyed the perspective change to keep things interesting. The characters are easily likable, and while it helps to know some background on the characters, I don't think you need to have read or listened to the other books in the series to enjoy any one of these books on their own. I think this series is a lot of fun to listen to!

What did you love best about Dead As a Doornail?

This is the first book I've listened to in this series, but I loved it and can't wait to listen the rest of the series. The characters were hilarious and the plot was great. If I had to pick a favorite part, it would probably be Lovita and Sue Jan's friendship - some of the things they get themselves into are ridiculous, but you can't stop laughing.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot definitely kept you interested from the start. New mysteries and twists kept popping up throughout the story that drew you in, even as a new listener to the series.

Which character – as performed by Michelle Babb – was your favorite?

Tough question. I've listened to a handful of stories narrated by Michelle Babb and I can honestly say this is my favorite one so far. There were so many characters with different accents and she did a fantastic job with all of them. It seemed like she really got into these characters and enjoyed portraying each of them with their own unique accent. I'd probably have to pick Lovita or Sue Jan as my favorite with that southern twang!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I usually listen to the book on my way to and from work, and there were several days when I didn't want to get out of the car. I could have listened to this story during one long car ride; the story is written well enough to keep you interested and the character voices helped to draw you in.

Any additional comments?

I would highly recommend this audiobook!

If you could sum up Cupidity in three words, what would they be?

Funny, frustrating, and cute.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cupidity?

The ending! I won't give it away, but I probably looked like a mental case listening to it in my car- groaning, laughing, and yelling all once.

What does Michelle Babb bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved Michelle Babb's character voices and the affection that came through between Tammy and Jar. Her reading of Jar was probably my favorite- all of the exclamations and mixed emotions were perfect! She does a great job matching the voices to the personality of each character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm no good with taglines, but maybe something like "500 to get 5 million? Looks like money CAN solve all the Tyree's problems" or (to steal a quote from the description of the book), "A story of greed, survival, and what's really important in life."

Any additional comments?

Again, I loved this story! The characters were all fantastic and the voices portrayed them perfectly. This novel was fun, cute, and stressful all at the same time because you begin to really empathize with all the characters. I didn't want to stop listening; the characters and plot line drew me in. Fantastic job to Patricia Wood and Michelle Babb- good work and nicely done!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this audiobook. It is another great addition to the series, but would be a fun read if even if you haven't listened to or read the other books. It is an interesting mix of historical and present time, and there is plenty of drama to keep you intrigued (haha this series is turning into a not-so-guilty pleasure). It might be a little cheesy, but its loveable and there is lots of laughs, outrage, and every emotion in between.

Who was your favorite character and why?

John continues to impress me in every book. He is witty, kind, smart, and his head and heart are always in the right place.

Which character – as performed by Michelle Babb – was your favorite?

Michelle Babb did a great voice for Patty Ann! She sounded just like the sweet southern belle a salt queen should be. All of the voices, and the emotions that came through them, were done quite well in the book- hard to pick just one.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I would use the same tagline as the book: "An old house. A new computer. A visit to another century." Of course, that might be why I didn't pursue a career in the marketing or movie industry...

Any additional comments?

Again, this was a great book. It is a neat way to blend past and present and I really like the additional information available on the author's website. The book draws you in as you listen in two ways: the plot and the emotional connection in the character voices. You can tell that the narrator understands what exactly is happening and who the characters are, and speaks each line with the emotion the character is feeling.

If you could sum up Time and Again in three words, what would they be?

Learning life's lessons

What did you like best about this story?

The characters in this book were relatable and the historical parallel made it even more interesting.

What about Michelle Babb’s performance did you like?

I'm normally a visual person- I usually do much better reading something than listening to it. With this book, however, I did not have that problem. Michelle Babb complemented the descriptive language perfectly and gave life to the characters. She made the book very easy to listen to and I found myself drawn in by the words she spoke and the voices she used.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Where the crossroads of many young lives intersect in ways they never could have imagined.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this story- the small mysteries added intrigue to a very well written story. I loved the addition of the historical ties. Overall, great plot, great narrator, and a great message!
