Such good books
Revisado: 10-17-24
The whole trilogy was well written/spoken! I didn’t want it to end. I liked the way it slipped back and forth between the 4 main characters. Sometimes it was hard to stomach but that’s the way WWII was. The Nazis were brutal. I’ve read worse!

Not a good book
Revisado: 09-22-24
A lot of bad language, unnecessarily. It is a good movie. If it followed the book it would not be. This was a waste of a credit.

Historia
If my childhood taught me anything, it was to survive. Now I have a deep-rooted mistrust of people and a wall of steel and ice surrounding my heart. So, when Reed Ryan steps into my life, I know I need to keep him far away. He’s everything I grew up hating. Fighting. Fleeing. Devastatingly handsome, he looks like a drunken regret and has heartbreak written over every inch of his body - literally. He’s the quintessential bad boy...and he’s a cop. But the man is my undoing.

I’m not sorry I listened to this. It’s wrong to refer to rape as child molesting. I hope our society corrects this in the coming years.

One of a kind!
Revisado: 08-12-24
I seldom give 5 stars. This was so well written!
The only complaint I have was how the author would sometimes switch from first person to second person for who was telling the story. I don’t like that.
I will be looking for other books by this author.

Historia
In the tradition of Frank McCourt’s Angela’s Ashes and Alice Taylor’s To School Through the Fields, Tom Phelan’s We Were Rich and We Didn't Know It is a heartfelt and masterfully written memoir of growing up in Ireland in the 1940s. We Were Rich and We Didn't Know It recounts Tom’s upbringing in an isolated, rural community from the day he was delivered by the local midwife. With tears and laughter, it speaks to the strength of the human spirit in the face of life's adversities.

Excellent story!
Revisado: 06-28-23
I loved this book when I read it 16 years ago and checked a few years ago to see if it was an Audible yet. It wasn’t. I checked again two weeks ago… and immediately bought it. I loved the story again, the author did a magnificent job of researching. The narrator was amazing, perfect for this book. I highly recommend.
PS. I never rate books!! This one I couldn’t resist.

"No matter! Her blood is white!" Red Jacket seethed. He went to the fire and tried to kick the dirt to douse it, a signal that the council was over. Jones grabbed him and pulled him back. "But the blood she has shed in bearing her children is Seneca. The blood of her husband when wounded in battle is Seneca. This deed is not given by the Seneca. It is the white nation who owns rights to this land now. They are giving back to a Seneca by giving it to Mrs. Jemison. For this, Red Jacket, you should be glad.
