This one was a pleaser!
Revisado: 01-02-20
I liked this one because it was a quick listen and really kept my attention. It was satisfying and I felt like the characters were developed nicely, which added to the authenticity of the story. Some parts were quite farfetched, but I went with it because I liked the fantasy of it all, and even though parts were extremely uncomfortable, I felt it was necessary for the story. I recommend it.

Historia
A Distortion of Reality has an Orwellian feel with a twist, leaving the time open to being past, present, or future. With the mind's imagination, what seems to be is not always what is, and much is left open for the listener to participate in the creation of the characters.

HOW did this get 51 five-star ratings?
Revisado: 01-02-20
I was duped into downloading this because of all of the high ratings, though I should have been skeptical since there wasn't even one with an actual review. However, at about $3 and a 2.5 hour run time, I decided to give it a shot. It wasn't horrible, but was kind of tough to get through. Without spoiling anything, it got weird, then weirder, then the supposed "twist" was weak. Overall, it was definitely meh. Nice try, but didn't reach the mark.

Oh man. This story was so good, it hurt. I couldn't stop listening, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Warning though - it is dark, very dark, and some will have an issue with the ending.

Fairly slow with some good parts
Revisado: 01-11-18
I normally like this type of book, but this one didn't really do it for me. It was slow at times, and hard to get through. There was far too much focus on autopsy procedures that didn't really pay off like I want them to if I'm going to listen to all of those details. Quite a few leaps were taken that were not fully explained, and at times characters who were speaking were not identified - the author overused "the girl" and I was like, "WHICH girl??" Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.

I liked this. It wasn't awesome, but it was a good listen and kept me interested. Like 99% of books I read (or hear), I figured out what was going to happen, but it was still a nice ride. Worth the listen for sure.

Meh
Revisado: 12-11-17
This wasn't great. I will concede that the narration is pretty spot on, but the story itself is dark and sad, with no real redeeming value. It just made me feel bad...which I don't mind if there is some redemption of some sort, but no such luck. I will say the last third was fairly compelling, but it took way too long to get there. I'm a huge fan of B.A. Paris and this was nowhere near as good.

Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Revisado: 12-11-17
I am not hard to please. I like most suspense/mystery thrillers. This one lost me and I just could NOT get into it. I tried and tried, and finally gave up. It's convoluted, boring, and disinteresting. I don't recommend it. I have a friend who reads most of the same books I do, and she couldn't get through it either.

Historia
Cass is having a hard time since the night she saw the car in the woods, on the winding rural road, in the middle of a downpour, with the woman sitting inside - the woman who was killed. She's been trying to put the crime out of her mind; what could she have done, really? It's a dangerous road to be on in the middle of a storm. Her husband would be furious if he knew she'd broken her promise not to take that shortcut home. And she probably would only have been hurt herself if she'd stopped.

I really really enjoyed this one! The twists and turns were great, and while some was predictable, there were still quite a few surprises. I loved Behind Closed Doors, and now this one. B.A. Paris is quickly becoming a favorite of mine - she's one clever lady. I always enjoy British narration, too. Definitely worth the listen.

Who could forget the sexy "Cherry Pie" girl from hair metal band Warrant's infamous music video? Bobbie Brown became a bona fide vixen for her playful role as the object of lead singer Jani Lane's desires. With her windblown peroxide mane, seductive scarlet lips, and flirtatious curves, she epitomized every man's fantasy. But the wide-eyed Louisiana beauty queen's own dreams of making it big in Los Angeles were about to be derailed by her rock-and-roll lifestyle.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 08-12-15
I am only one year younger than BB, and LOVED the hair bands of the late eighties. I remember being extremely envious of her look in the Cherry Pie video - she really was the most beautiful girl to me at that time. It was a huge draw to hear her read her own life story, and boy, was it juicy. Juicier than I imagined, but also heartfelt and real. There is something extremely genuine about her that I just can't get enough of. I enjoyed listening to her tell her own stories about Jani Lane, Tommy Lee, Matthew Nelson, even Kevin Costner and Rod Stewart. Most of all, though, it made me realize how much Hollywood will suck the life out of a person. Overall, it was pretty fascinating and went by very quickly.

Historia
In this brave and moving memoir, Corey Feldman is revealing the truth about what his life was like behind the scenes: His is a past that included physical, drug, and sexual abuse, a dysfunctional family from which he was emancipated at age fifteen, three high-profile arrests for drug possession, a nine-month stint in rehab, and a long, slow crawl back to the top of the box office.

Ate this up with a spoon and loved every minute!
Revisado: 01-11-14
What made the experience of listening to Coreyography the most enjoyable?
He has a gorgeous, rich voice. It's just so appealing. Loved listening to him! His imitations are spot on, too. He mimics Michael Jackson and Corey Haim perfectly. So great.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved it all. It was so engaging, couldn't put it down. It was hard to listen to the stories of abuse, but I applaud him for having the guts to lay it on the line like that.
Which character – as performed by Corey Feldman – was your favorite?
OH my gosh, he does the BEST Michael Jackson I have ever ever heard, hands down. It's not some campy, faux high-pitched voice like we're used to hearing when people "do Michael"...he sounds EXACTLY like MJ. I was dying. When he is playing Michael and says, "This is my friend Corey Feldman...he's a goonie!" I had to replay it like five times. I seriously want to make it my ringtone.
I also liked the way he performed himself at a younger age - it worked...he sounded so vulnerable and innocent. Made me kind of sad, considering what he endured.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES! I was listening to it while training for a marathon, and I'd actually run longer so I could continue listening.
Any additional comments?
Trust me, it does not disappoint. Of course, it helps if you grew up in the 80s and knew who he was, and saw his movies.
