Don't judge the book by its title
Revisado: 07-17-12
I thought this book was going to be as corny as it's title but I was wrong. This was an interesting and well plotted book. The characters were likable and relatable. The plot was interesting and funny. The narrator, Peggity Price, did a good job with the accent and the voices for each character. Although I have high praise for this book, I did feel like there was too much talking. I felt that the book was a little too much romance novel and not enough mystery novel. I'm hoping that in the next book it will be a little more mystery. If not I will still probably buy the third and possibly the rest of the books in the series because the so far I like what I have started.

BOOORRIIINNNGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Revisado: 07-14-12
I'm always excited when I see a new cozy mystery by an author I'm not familiar with on Audible. This one was in one word BORING! There are two different storylines intermingling throughout the book. Both are boring. The characters were stiff and unrealistic. The plotline, although feasible, was just not interesting. I tried to like this book. But what really made me stop listening was the narrator. She made some of the characters sound like children and others were whiny. I stopped listening after the first few chapters. You can give it a try if you want to but I would not recomend it to anyone.

Cassandra Campbell saved the day
Revisado: 07-13-12
I have read the previous books in this series and enjoyed them. When this book came out I happily bought it. Cassandra Campbell's soothing voice saved the day. Ann Littlewood wrote a nice story but it was a bit predictable. Half way through the book, I had the mystery solved. However, I didn't mind finishing the story to see how it all unfolded because Campbell really did a nice job with the story and all of its characters. Littlewood is also very good at throwing in a few surprising twist and turns. This is a good book to listen to while shopping, doing errands or driving to work.

I had reservations about the first book but found it so good that I immediately bought this book. All I can say is that it was ok. The story and narration were ok. I don't regret using a credit. And neither will anyone who choses this book.

Not for me
Revisado: 07-12-12
I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn't hold my interest. The characters are interesting and the plot is ok, but it's just not my cup of tea. After reading half of the book I started to skip chapters. I finally skipped to the end of the book. Once i found out the solution of the book I wasn't surprised. I actually had no emotion. This book just didn't grab me.

I almost deleted this book from library. That would have been a big mistake. This is a great book. It took a few chapters to get into to it, but once I did I could not put it down. Several times I thought I had the mystery solved but was proven wrong each time. Finally I gave up and let the story play out. It was great. I bought the next book in the series before I was finished with the first. This book is worth the time and the credit. If you like mysteries, BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!! You will not regret it.

Revisado: 07-03-12
This is a good series. I stumbled on to it late but I'm glad I did. The story presents a realistic plot with likable characters. The zoo setting is unique and gives the average reader insight to the workings of a zoo, as well as the animals who live there. The narrator does a good job of bringing the characters alive and giving them personality. I also like the development of Teddy and Joe's relationship. The author does a good job of showing their personal life without making it a central focus of the story. This is a very good book. If you have time to listen to it, you should give it a try.

Good beginning for a new series
Revisado: 07-02-12
I have never read a book by this author. I was pleasantly surprised. The story was funny and interesting. This is the first cozy mystery in which the lead character allows the police to do their job without a lot of interference. Merry goes about doing her job carry for horses, facing her fears, and finding a way to forgive her father while the police does the investigating. However, she does manage to solve the case and save herself by the end. The story kept my interest and the characters were believable and likable. I wish the second installment was available on audio, but at this time it is not. However, I might buy it on Kindle. This book is worth a credit and your time.

Second time is not the charm
Revisado: 06-13-12
I bought this book on the strength of the first novel. I was wrong. This installment of the series was not nearly as interesting as the first. There were many things wrong with it that would make me not recommend it to someone else. First, I figured out the mystery before the book was half way through. Sometimes I don't mind when that happens because I like the way the story unfolds, but not this time. Second, the side story plots were enough to make me pull out my hair. They were poorly written and unnecessary. The plot that involved Leah really annoyed me. She used ya'll to address a single person as well as a group of people. PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH DO NOT TALK LIKE THAT! The love triangle between Rossi, Simon and Deva was drawn out and annoying. In the first book Deva clung to the memory of her husband. In this book she behaved like an indecisive teenager. The narrato also did a poor job. The voices she gave the characters were distracting, annoying and added nothing to the story. It is rare when I can't think of positive things to say about a book. This is one of those rare times. Buyer beware!

I tried to like it
Revisado: 06-09-12
I tried to like this book. I forced myself to listen from beginning to end. The storyline was weak. The mystery took second place to family problems that were never solved. I was actually more interested in the family problems than the actual murder. This book also reminded me a little of another series which involves cooking. Only that book established it's characters better. The narrator sounded like Betty White. The lead character is supposed to be 40 yet she sounds like she doubled that at least. More than likely, I won't buy the next book in the series.
