Historia
Arriving in Cairo for another thrilling excavation season, Amelia is relaxing in a well-earned bubble bath in her elegant hotel suite in Cairo when a man with a knife protruding from his back staggers into the bath chamber and utters a single word - "murder" - before collapsing on the tiled floor, dead. Among the few possessions he carried was a sheet of paper with Amelia's name and room number.

It was sweet of her to memorialize her friend by finishing the book, but the sexist, racist undertones and awful characterization of all the recurring characters made this book painful to finish and left me feeling grossed out.

It was real and brilliant and magical and relatable all at once. I didn't know that was even possible. Can't wait for more.

Eh.
Revisado: 05-04-15
I feel like until the last three hours of the book, I was waiting for the plot to show itself. It's a lot of character stories that never really all meet well, so it's just a lot of setup for what must be more in the future books. I had to force myself it finish it. Also the narrative style is a bit redundant and definitely over explanatory.

New Twist on Favorite Story
Revisado: 07-22-09
This is probably the best Alice in Wonderland spin I have ever read. Beats out the movie and the long drawn out sequels in a heart beat. This book isn't for Toddlers, it is definitely for a more mature audience. It adds the reality of what power struggles and war can do to a world, a people, even in a place as whimsical as wonderland. I reccomend to young and old alike, it is a great book.
