Easy listen
Revisado: 05-14-23
Good stuff and keeps it simple. Deviates from the story every now and then to show off that he is pop culture knowledgeable i guess(ex. spends five minutes naming top ten underdog sports movies for some reason) But easy listen

When people think of county living they think of white dudes in pick-up trucks and the good ole boys. Bakari shines a light on being black in a small town in a captivating way.

Understanding Ike.
Revisado: 07-17-20
Very good account of the the life and times of Eisenhower. More detail dealing with his military rise. As the author points out, America during his time was a calm time and not many crises. But the book points out that while he was Just "care taking" during the 50's the cold war could have gone extremely hot if not for the instincts of a war time general to deescalate situations and go against the advice of his war ready anti-communist advisors. Only real mistake was the U2 spy plane incident and how the cold war could have been cooled if it did not happen.
The book focuses on Ike and is an enjoyable read about how he rose to the top of everything he got involved in. Good study on how politics in the military and country are intertwined.
